Biotope references?

There dont seem to be a huge number of them to use as templates, but I've been toying with the notion of setting up my tank as more of a biotope tank, and I'm running into a bit of a roadblock in figuring out appropriate plants. I've been looking for a reference which lists terrarium suitable plants from specific biotopes, even if it is just a plant list from a particular country (say Peru). I don't have the plant ID skills to look at a picture of the habitats and have a clue what I'm looking at. It's a bit daunting looking at lists of hundreds to thousands of plants trying to glean which ones are native to which country, I was hoping someone knew of a shortcut link that's eluded me. Failing that, if someone knows a short list of Peruvian plants that would be appreciated as well, but I'm more than willing to do my own homework, I'm stymied at the moment. Thanks in advance.
