Metabolic Bone Disease?
#1
My frogs toe looks broken at times. He will be standing on it and it will be folded under his foot. Is this a case of MBD or is this normal? Other times the toe will look totally normal.

I've seen a 'broken' toe once or twice and it never gets back to where it was - little floppy.

Hard to say if it's injury or otherwise. One reason I use a high quality Calcium superfine supplement. Human grade if possible. Rapashy is good. None of that oyster shell crap - Reptical.

I dust with calcium almost every single feeding. Rarely skipping especially when frogs are growing / breeding, which is most of the time anyway.

There's no real way to 100% be certain of what you are dealing with unless you get the animal seen by a Vet.

I've had 2 frogs with kinda what you describe and they both ate well and grew large.

Do not use Repcal or Reptical if the ingredients say ' Shells from oysters'. Oyster shell is inferiour to a better quality chelated source of ground calcium.

Use these products:

I would start out buying 'Repashy Calcium plus' in the smaller size bottle.

Store the bottle in the freezer or at least in a dry place not in direct sunlight or high heat.

Alright thanks a lot. Even if his toe is broken I don't care as long as he acts normal and isn't in pain.

Here are the links to Josh's site for the supplement rotation I use:

With every feeding:
http://www.joshsfrogs.com/dendrocare-vi ... -50-g.html
http://www.joshsfrogs.com/repashy-calci ... z-jar.html

Every two weeks:
http://www.joshsfrogs.com/repashy-vitam ... z-jar.html

I seem to get better quality clutches with dendrocare in my rotation. It's non scientific but I like that supplement as well. You have to experiment with the frequency of vit A IMO. I found once a month to be inadequate for my Lorenzo (estimated by clutch fertility) so I moved to twice a month.

Buy fresh supplements every six months. Keep refrigerated. Good luck!

EDIT: I should clarify I alternate dendrocare and repashy ca plus weekly - I don't mix the two together. So I'll do one week of feedings with dendrocare, the. One week with ca plus, then back to dendrocare, etc. working in one feeding of vit A every other week.

I purchased the repashy supplement today. When I fed my frogs there seemed to be oranges dots all over the place after my frogs ate. What is this?
