You hit on all the possible scenarios, I think.
You can bet most people just toss em in. I sometimes do if they are long term animals from other trusted breeders ect. If it's wild caught stuff, like from Strickly Reptiles or god forbid, underground reptiles, yeah then I'd advise Q-Tine. http://www.dartden.com/Thread-quarantine...frog-hobby We don't have a good Q-tine enclosure sticky here - I'll get that up at some point. Yes, you want to minimize stress as STRESS is a primary killer here. Stress will magnify all the other issues. You want the enclosure to be sparse but have hides and foliage like pothos. Need to have plants to keep up the humidity. Paper towel liner is only for if/when you want to collect fecals. I use a variation of a critter keeper for my Q-tine as well as grow-outs. They are called 'Clearvue' I think and they only make medium size now instead of the nice 10 gallon size large. Made in China no doubt. They have ventilation on the lids and that's important. The plastic shoebox or sweater box from Lowes or homedepot is ok, I guess, but I'd rather have some better ventilation. Here's a pic of three 'Temporary' enclosures - also numbered because I'm sure a OCD pedantic nerd apparently. They have leca drainage and some ABG and live oak leaf litter and then some large leafed hardy plants for hides and moisture retention. Simple and easy to take down and clean and sterilize.
