Is there a way to use a word or phrase in place of a whole URL here? (I always thought that hyperlink kinda meant this) or is URL the way to go? Like if I were posting a reference to another thread, could I use the wordhere and have it click-able to take people to the thread being referenced?

The 'other way' is not only easier - cut n' paste....but people are more inclined to click on a link that is not 'renamed' and obvious.
