i have 2 quinquevittatus which i acquired from Todd Kelley at nwff this past July. they are the original Todd Kelley line. both frogs have had two consecutive clean fecals from Dr. Frye, and have been in quarantine the whole time awaiting the third clean fecal(which they are due for next week.) i suspect that they are males, but do not know. $300 for both plus $50 shipping.
anyone know if this line is still being produced and available ?
good question....I think I have seen some in the last year.
I gave mine to a friend years ago. Mine never bred well at all and were always hidden. Not crazy about them.

I've heard that about the quinqs. I also heard that initially we were working with a very limited gene pool and that may have been the cause of some of the limited breeding. I wonder if the supplements we have now would have lessened the breeding challenges
I' doubt supplements would change things up any , being that I use pretty much the same as I did back then with all my other frogs.
When my brother and myself got the quniqs they had very high loads of hook worms. At times frogs with high parasite loads can have effected reproductive organs.
Yes , the few that were given to them by the zoo were small in number, but I got mine almost ten years ago and I doubt they were more than F2 .
Some folks out here are still breeding them pretty regularly. If only I had more room...
... Ray , what exactly makes these cool/unique/ brown frogs something to work with. Work with being a project where one has a group of frogs for a life-hood?
Based on their unique behaviors? Obligates are nice, Rich, and I keep a few, but what I most enjoy about my little brown frogs (Ameerega, epipedobates, allobates, and even Mantella sp.) are their social behaviors, vocalizations, etc. I also find claims that certain species are somehow more shy than others to be specious. If given the proper enclosure even the notoriously "shy" species will be frequently visible, and nearly always audible.
Quinqs are hardly 'brown'....they have one of the 'coolest" orange/ yellow spotted legs of any Dart Frog.

Agreed! I know two or three west coast people still producing them.

Not sure I follow. From my interaction with them they are a neat species in the vivarium, not unlike castaneoticus or lugubris. Interesting behavior and vocalizations and a bit more challenging to breed on a frequent basis.
