Do not be dismayed by lack of posting folks. We are barely three weeks up and not even close to SEO and are STILL seeing about 300 different people online at any given hour. We had a high of over 800 in about 1 hour as well.

Not too shabby.

The postings will come. I am just glad we have all the threads and information here, being used. That's more important than anything, especially a silly thread on 'mixing', amiright?

Can I ask why the software merged individual posts in to one post as an edit as long as no one posts to the thread before subsequent posts?  To me it is annoying and there have been a few occasions it has been a pain when trying to post a link or picture.

Can that function be turned off?

These are by far my most elusive frogs if they feel any vibration in the floor they go hiding if they see any shadows move outside the tank they shoot for a leaf.  Every morning I hear one call, And the other usually comes out to check it out so I'm hoping I have a pair.

According to ICUN the collection point of Ameerega silverstonei was roughly 7km west of the city of Aguaytia.

Elevation averages roughly 1350 meters in the area, this is where the highland swamps seem to occur where Ameerega silverstonei have been collected. 

I was not able to retrieve a water report of the area but will continue to dig for it and an analysis of the native biotope.

After doing a lot of research this year on various lights available I have compiled the following review on several popular brands.  They are ordered by the most recent purchase date.  

1.  LEPOWER 50W LED Light Outdoor, Work Light with Plug, IP66 Waterproof Outdoor LED Lights Super Bright 5000lm 6000K White Light for Yard, Garden, Party (2 Pack) h 35 dollars for two

this two pack is really a steal and my probably number one recommended light at this point.  It is bright if you have an 18x18x24 terrarium a decent amount of light hits the bottom it's very white so the broms should be very happy.  I recently put this in my tank so I don't have a lot of experience but so far I'm almost guaranteeing that this is going to produce some nice color in my plants.  Highly recommend checking this light out they're very cheap for what you're getting.

           

2.  Phlizon 600W Dimmable Plant LED

Nice natural light fairly low cost dimmable so if you need more or less light for a taller tank works well.  The downside is that there's no fan built into it and it can generate a bit of heat so it's recommended that you put it in a different separating closure.  as you can see I have mine in a cabinet above the tank and it puts out a perfect amount heat, none.  all plants seem happy, and a bonus is that it includes UVB.

       


3. Jungle Dawn 12"

Truly a fantastic light for growing plants and for smaller vivariums however you are definitely paying for the reptile name.  I think I paid $65 for this small tube but the results are pretty good.   Natural looking bright white light with decent p a r results.

Springtail culture Calcium Bearing Clay Substrate original recipe. (Sorry, I lost the extra crunchy):


3 Quarts Red Art powdered clay


1/2 Quart Sodium Bentonite powdered clay


1/2 Quart Calcium Bentonite powdered clay


1/2 Quart Fine Aragonite Sand


1/4 to 1/2 cup Calcium Carbonate**



Dry mix all ingredients in a sealed Ziplock bag. That keeps the dust down. Pour it in a 5 gallon bucket. Use water to hydrate mix. I use about 3/4 of a 2 quart container. Mix like crazy. I use a drill and a paint stirrer from Walmart. The better ones don't work as they get bogged down in the thick mix, get the cheapy with the red plastic stirrer on the end from Walmart.


**I have a new, much cheaper source for the calcium carbonate. While you are purchasing your clay, ask them for some "Whiting". Whiting is calcium carbonate.

Does anybody have any in situ photos for tincturious and ranitomeya lamasi?  I've heard that the lamasi/sirensis Pasco live in bushes in the side of the road.  Just wondering if anybody has been out on a tour or lives near by so I can see what their individual habitats look like in the wild.  most of the pictures I found on the internet are zoomed in on the actual frog and you can't really see what's going on around them.
