would this light work on a 29g viv. its 30x12x18

or would you suggest something else? id like the viv to be heavily planted.

If you want the plants to get all the light they need try a power compact light..

Hi Deranged Jester,
the double bulb flourescent should be enough for that tank.
Figure your tank depth will be 17" or less.
Depending on what bulbs ( color specturm/wattage) come with this fixture, you may want to upgrade to something more suitable.

Power compacts are great, however there is a trade off of a heat factor.
In that size tank, controlling the heat might be a problem, unless you are planning on venting the tank in some way.
