D Auratus sitting in water and not eating
#1
HI, I purchased a Dendrobates auratus (the brown and tan morph) a few weeks ago at a local reptile show. It seems pretty young, though I'm not sure exactly how young. Maybe about an inch long. Since I got him he's been sitting in a water dish almost the entire time and I don't believe he has eaten very much. I have been putting fruit flies in the tank everyday. I have been misting the tank at least once a day too and I have plastic over the top to keep the humidity up. about ten minutes ago i moved him to another tank, a ten gallon with a glass top i thought maybe the humidity would be even higher in that tank. i was just wondering if it is normal for young frog to stay in the water often, or if i should try changing something else.

Thank you,
Josh

Josh,
it is not normal for darts to spend that much time sitting in the water.
I would recommend getting in touch with the person you purchased it from and consulting with them. The person you purchased it from will have more knowledge of the frogs background, and could help you sort through the possible cause of the frogs inactivity. It would also be nice to know how old the frog is for future reference.
