Dart Breeders Union (DBU)
#1
There has been quite a lot of chatter via boards, emails, PMs, phone calls, whatever in the recent weeks. I've read a number of posts on Dendro, some of which are no longer in circulation via the Board, talked with a bunch of froggers and since I am almost ready to take a small break from my new frog room I am wondering what people would like to read or give input about here on a board that does not really sensor or threaten to ban.

I have brought up the idea of a breeder's union or senate in the past.

I truly believe in the absolute need to post feedback about bad vendors and/or bad transactions. Only good , fuzzy, feedback is next to worthless. It is almost always obvious when someone is just going off on a rant and those who interject and ask questions about such rants can generally wade through BS.

I also would love to see a conservation section added here.

Without bringing up the soapbox issue I'd like to see what may make people more interested in exchanging pertinent Dart info on this forum. I thoroughly believe most topics and threads can and will be quite civil and informative but those that are easily scared away or offended may do well by offering some constructive input , other than the standard Kumbaya stuff.

One of my major concerns is the fact that many froggers seem to be getting quite a bit of nonfactually , misleading info behind the scenes. This scares the crap out of me. There is a time for discretion and a time to post good, hard, facts. The VAST majority of the time I believe the latter will not need to clash with the former unless there is something rotten in Denmark.

I know for a fact that many a good frogger view Dartden. Please speak up so we can have a good discussion of what will help make this hobby go forward, without stifling information.

Thanks,
Rich
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

For those invitees of the union, we are trying to finalize our mission statement this week. Any input would be appreciated.

To all invitees, please email me so I can file those start to use strictly email to broadcast to you. It's much easier to email than broadcast PMs, as Pms can only be sent out a few at a time.

I see someone recently referred to the DBU as a "Directive".....

Well, ya can't "Direct" people who volunteer, or wish to be directed.

I'm willing to help with this endevor , just like I'm willing to help and put energy into any organization for the advancement and betterment of the animals, and our hobby .TWI also.

Both groups seem to be "stuck in neutral" right now.

LMK what I can do to assist and help. As you can see from this forum revamp and resurgance in just 3 short months....I'm pretty good at gathering energy and getting things done.

I'll be here....

If you have been invited (which you have Phil) when you get time, just help add to the lists of issues which will be on the constitution. Each at his/her own speed. And each can pick the 'hot topics' he/she likes.

TWI and the DBU are quite different. The base for TWI was started almost 10 years ago, we started getting things together for a constitution less than a year ago. We are all about darts in the hobby, TWI is all about amphibian conservation.

Late spring /summer is always a bit slower for dart related projects. I'm quite sure when fall hits we'll be hammering out the constitution.

Actually, I should have said this is slower for dart related projects , except for the few people who seem to have all the time in the world to play in The Thunderdome. A couple of which 'battlers' used to stick up for each other only a few short months ago. HMMM. I guess some people will always have WAY too much interweb time on their (not thier [sic] ) hands, even though there's plenty of work to be done elsewhere on conservation sites and threads. Battle away boys , plenty of us laughing and shaking our heads right now. Congrats.
