Determining the sex of Dart Frogs. Clues ?
#1
I just got two Dendrobates auratus and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to figure out the sex of the frogs. I was sold a male and a female but have no clue how to tell the difference.

Here is a typical female Dendrobaes auratus . Females are noticably pear-shaped.

Males are more slender.

I've heard that the males develope "notches" in the front toe pads. Is that true?

The 'notched' front toe pads are a littler easier to interpret on some species than others. There are a combination of things to look for to determine the sex, and toepads are just one.
