Surprise Tadpole - What now ?
#1
I have two tincs that I have had for about 6 or 8 months. I was cleaning out their terrarium and saw what I thought was a good sized poop in the coconut hut. When I reached in to clean it, it moved. So after all this time, I am a grandma! What in the world do I do now? I moved the tadpole into a shot glass with spring water in it, but after that, I am at a loss. Please advise.

Thanks!

Congrats Andrea!
You might consider moving the tadpole to a little larger container that will hold a larger volume of water. We use 12oz size Mason jars and have approx 2-3 inches of water with java moss. You will want to feed the tadpole sparingly at first with a good quality fish food. Feeding too much will quickly foul the water. Should the water become fouled you will need to change as neccessary. Feed daily, change water as neccessary, and this is about all you can do for a while. Tadpole development will be affected by your water temps, warmer=quicker, cooler=slower.

Thanks Cindy. I just sent an email to you in a panic. I found another tadpole in the rock substrate this morning who is twice the size of the first one. I don't know how to get him out or if I even should. He is huge and appears to be thriving.
