Screening on top of eggcrate ?

with a false bottom, how do you keep the soil from running through the squares and into the bottom ?

You need some kind of soil separator like weedblock or nylon screening.
I have used both. just cut it a tad bit bigger than the eggcrate and lay it on top. Then the soil on top of the screening.
