I am going to buy a 150 gallon tank for 100 dollars!! thats less than 1 dolllar to the gallon. But i dont know what i should put in it. i was thinking of dividing it up in to 3 50 gallon sections or 2 75 gallon sections or should i leave it whole? have opinion what i should do with it or what i should put in it

thanks

just a note...i would just keep it as it is. Esecially if you plan on ever moving it. I have heard some horror stories of divided tanks busting because of them trying to move it...that would be my only concern. you would probably have to definately reinforce the separation i would think. no expert here on viv building but others can chime in on this issue. kristy Big Grin

well it is a big tank. i suggest somethign bigger. you can put a big group of any phyllobates, auratus, or leucs in there. leucs are cool cuz they are very bold and have a nice loud call. if it were me. i'd have a bunch of leucs...with enough space , which you obviously have, they do well in groups and will pair off for breeding ...another positive to them is they utilize both the floor of the tank and like to climb a lot. kristy Big Grin

since im gonna leave it whole i want to play up the height of the tank. I have a 3 foot vertical drop which means i could have one hell of a water feature. I am really considering 5-6 juvies of Iquitos vents or even intermedius after a while ill have plenty in the tank. ive heard they breed like rabbits. The social interaction with a group that size would more than make up for the small size of the frog.

Matt,
glad to hear you will use the whole tank as is.
That will make one nice vivarium!
And yes, starting with 5 or 6 vents or intermedius will provide quite the 'show'.
We set up a tank last year with 7 imitators in a 75 gal bowfront, and the customer has lost count as to how many are in there now.

so i think im gonna go with juvies beacuasethey are ussually less money and i can watch them grow in to adults. im not positive on what frog im gonna get but these are some of the ones Im thinking imis, intermedius or tricolors. Im gonna start with 6-8 in the tank that size. Of what i hear there are serious dendro breeders here in the northeast so i dont think it would be a problem of getting frogs when te time comes for that.
Im planning of finishing this tank by next spring or summer. this tank is gonna take alot of work and money. this one expensive hobby but alot of fun and well worth it in the end Big Grin

glad to hear you are going to use the whole tank. i'm sure it is going to be awesome. what you want in the tank is up to you and yes, the options you provided are very good options for a tank that size. Cindy is right. She knows her stuff  i prefer bigger darts but thats just me. everyone has their own likes and dislikes. you'll have to show us the progress you make on the tank. kristy Big Grin
