Do you prefer making a viv out of an aquarium or a ZooMed/ExoTerra terrarium?

I haven't started making mine yet, but I'm going to go for plain aquariums.
No visual obstructions along the front glass is sweet as. Only problem I think would be vents and keeping the front glass clear! I've bought a 30"x18x18 clearseal aquarium with aluminium hood which I'm going to put a custom vent in the front of.

The benefits of using a Zoo Med or Exo is accessibility. You have easier access to the inside of the tank for arranging, planting, and getting to your frogs if need be.
I personnally like the ease of accessibility. Makes pruning your plants a lot easier as well. Terry Johnson

My favorite is the Exo's. If you don't like the split in the glass on the front, you can turn it and have one of the sides be the front.

We've used both for our custom work, and when it comes time to maintain the viv, i.e. cleaning the glass, trimming the plants, fixing redecorating efforts by the inhabitants, the front-opening terrarium wins hands down. Working from the top I always end up in a spot where, to reach it, I have to get into a position that I have to work by feel, rather than sight.

I have an exo terra one and love the easy access to the front but have got a aquarium that I'm about to start up and am really looking forward to the size of it- much more creativity involved.

I pitched 4 fishy tanks last fall, right into the dumpster. I have all exos now, don't miss the tanks one bit.

I have done both and my main display is my old 60g cube reef tank...I didn't mine either one but I really like the Zoomeds personally. I like the solid front pane of glass one thing that really bothers me after years of fish keeping is having obstructions in the viewing area, scratches or a line where the doors meet....So Zoomeds for me.

One of the hardest tanks to translate into Frog Keeping that all new people go nuts for, is the large deep Hex tanks.
What a maintenance nightmare !

I like the doors on the exos and zoo meds. On the verts I made, I had two of my variabillis escape in 1 night due to the door not being closed all the way. My own fault really, but when I close an exo, I know its shut. That and I had 2 times where I cut myself on the glass on the vert. tank doors, didnt like that either. But then, I had it with an exo once where I had a door half open and was looking in real close, one of the frogs jumped, startling me, actually bounced off the glass, a big tinc. I jerked my hand out, hit the door and the corner of the door popped me in the eye. Vision in that eye was blurry for 2 days, so I guess they all have their "hazards" :oops: . In the end, they (exos and zoomeds) are just way more versatile, the options a top lid and front doors give you out weigh any converted aquarium (IMO). And I prefer the exo's as if the frogs are on the left, I open the door on the right.

I have a 65 Hex NEW right now that was originally going to be for saltwater. Even though I am so tempted ... I can't bring myself to set it up with frogs for that reason. If Exo or Zoo Med made a large hex with an opening front... that would be nice.

Maybe it's me, but I think all frog / habitats, display so much better in a tall, flat enclosure.
I think that water - salt water, displays fairly cool in a Hex or a tube - like all the tanks in Vegas ect, where the fish swim around the tube in circles.....that's about the extent of coolness and usefulness for hexes and tubes IMO, though.

I saw the 36x18x36 exo at a LFS here in town and it is awesome, I love the dimensions of it.
