Overfeeding possible ?

I have a Steady supply of fruit flies and cultures going now.. Every two weeks i start a new set. BUT.. My frogs are eating well and getting nice and plump. Mmmm.. But is there a such a thing as over feeding. i did a search and nothing exactly what i wanted to know. Ive read about "Watching how much they eat and adjusting". And ive been feeding just about everyday except on weekends usually forget once. Just didn't want them to "Burst" for a lack of a better word. Thanks again. -Buddha

Absolutely......they can all be overfeed.

Just try to go by body size if nothing else. If you see a constant ping pong ball look to your tincs and they start to develop jowls and gulular fat deposits......fatty neck...lol......

Yes they can be overfed. Frogs can be obese or anorexic. I would back off feeding for a couple days and keep an eye on the BBF one's

and if you accidentally overfeed, place a slice of banana in the tank... fruit flies+ fruit = attraction of fruit flies.....

You're too good to me Phil My lecus don't look "fat" they look "plump" for a word to describe it. As I said on my other post, they're picking the feeding station clean and getting their fill. If I can get a good pic of the belly of the one that sits, watching the feeding station occasionally throughout the day, you can be the judge. The other picks for a couple hours then hides the rest of the day.

just a silly little tip we were given bin the feeding station idea blow the flies all over the viv,tip on hand and woosh blow,make the little fatties work for their supper,seriously look at wild pics!!!!!!!!and if they are hunting longer they are 1less bored and 2 more visable 3 fitter...what can i say all good

quite right Stu. I only recommend a "feeding station" / fruit, for froglets and problem eaters/ feeders and maybe if your viv is 'leaky" and the FF keep getting out.

Free Range feeding is more natural.

when we get our very first frogs we need to know they are feeding...we need to see it,guys Phil knows how long we have been doing this its not long just over a yr,so this is fresh to me,but we need to be so aware of the confines of a viv and how much easier we can make for a frog to get food than it should be.

I've taken out the feeding station. I only did it #1 to keep flies from getting out of the tank and #2 to keep a centralized area for the flies to be so the frogs could clean them up easier. Since I posted over a week ago, i took out the feeding station a few days later, my frogs have slimmed down and they are actively hunting again. I've cut my feedings down to about 20 flies every other day and haven't seen an issue with an abundance of flies in the tank. Thanks for your help!

There are a lot of obese frogs in our hobby. "feeding stations' contribute to obesity as well, IMO. Make them hunt and move around.

Just like humans, body shape will tell you if your frog is too fat.

Feeding everyday is not good.
