Calling All Entomologists - What is this worm ?
#1
I have found a number of these both in a pum viv's film cups and a terribilis water feature. Seems to be some sort of larva. I'd love to know what it is and what it is all about. In other words, is it harmful?
Thanks,
Rich

Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

Its some sort of Diptera larva (flies, gnats, and midges). No tell what species. Probably won't harm the frogs - plants might be another matter.

Thanks Chuck. It was IDed as a 'moth fly' or 'filter fly', Clogmia albipunctata.
They bug the crap out of me, but don't seem to bother the viv or frogs. The larva do get into deposit cans and such , which I don't like at all.
