Awesome Phil! Great detail too! Did you pick the picture out from somewhere? Or was it a collage of stuff? Or did he do it all freehand?

Gave Landon the Koi -Dragon transformation myth. The koi that is strong and persistent enough to surmount the falls of the yellow river transforms into a guardian dragon and then the "fall" seasonal theme with the red maple leaves as opposed to the spring cherry blossoms...that type of thing, and he ran with it and did a "1/2" stencil. The scales and rocks and most interior stuff, he did freehand.

7+ hours

3 sittings. I wanted to do one single sitting and we originally were gonna go for it but his hands and eyes got tired.

Highly recommend that shop and the artists there. Good guys and good stuff.

Any particular reason you chose the Koi Dragon ?

I like the Eastern Symbolism / Mythology of the Koi transformation into the Dragon - the ultimate protector and water element oriented.

I also dig fish scales for tats.

Nice! Most of my tattoos reflect early Christianity and the dark ages. Most are very symbolic.

I also just have some random tats that are more personal, like the cave deer and the bug tats.

Again, great tat, and Im glad to hear that there was some thought and personal interests involved in the piece.

That is what will make a it a piece you will never regret.
