I feel that local groups are the true strength of our hobby and as such, I am working towards a Regional map, or at least a list of geographic names and areas until we can do more...
If you would like to see another region / group included or have an suggestions or comments, I would greatly appreciate same. You can post here on this thread as well.

Wow...I was just kinda spittballin' with the Map idea, Jason.
I really wanted to try a zip code map, but that would be incumbent upon getting everyone to submit their zips ect.

You're going to have to get all the forum hobbyists to comply and submit data. That's not going to easy to get them to do.
How do you plan to get the zip code data ?

No doubt, Phil.
The map will be interactive and it will be easy to update. The initial map will be rolled out soon containing some data. Once others see the map infrastructure, how the map works, and the value of the map I hope others will volunteer information so the map continues to grow…

Hey Phil, our so cal group is Southern California Area Dendrobatid Society (SCADS) for short. We are the only group in our area. It ranges mainly from San Diego County to Los Angeles County. Hope that info helps you out.

One, if not THE, major strength of this hobby....is the local group and gatherings. If you have ever been to one, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Fellowship
Food
Adult beverages
Frogs...not just sold but traded !
Supplies...leaf litter...film cans....you name it.
Most frog gatherings / meets, are better than a Reptile show for variety and price.
Support your local breeders and form groups ~ !

Texas has a surprisingly large amount of Froggers.
Florida has a surprisingly LOW number of Froggers considering its brom heaven.
Utah has a lot more froggers than you would think.
the northeast is HUGE for froggers.
Baltimore MD and surrounding rings into other states are big due to the heavy and long standing dart frog exhibits at the local Baltimore Aquarium.

I didn't know this one existed. I think I fall in this category being near Syracuse. I have been wondering about this for a while now, good idea on the maps/list.

I realized Las Vegas NV is not on your list ..not exactly a dart frog mecca, especially with how transient the population can be. Yet , there are a few here. that have some nice collections. I appear to be one of the only one active on the forums at present ( or a least I am a little active). Thank goodness for S.Cal and Utah. Anyway wanted to post in case someone new that comes along.

Yes Sally...there are a 1/2 dozen that I know of in LaV. How about Arizona ? Do you guys ever combine to have meets and gatherings? And I know of ONE frogger in New Mexico too !

Yes there have been a few get togethers, seems to work out best when the LV Reptile Expo have been going on. I hope there will be more in the future.
