I've seen mixed time frames on the other board. I know my azureus were purchased when they were 4 weeks old. The leucs didn't have an OOW dates, and the Imi's were around 4 weeks old as well. My mints were 2 months OOW.
I don't have a lot of room in my home for grow out bins. I do however want to make sure that I'm not passing off any froglets that dont thrive to someone else.
Is 4 weeks a good general time frame?

Depends on size , species and circumstances, not age. But four weeks seems a bit young.
I won't ship any obligates until they are at least 1/3-1/2 fully grown. But I'll give them away, sell, trade/whatever at a younger age and size. But only after their bodies lose the froglet 'look'.
Terribilis are very skittish as young and don't always ship great when adults. The optimum time to ship is about half grown. But again, handing them off for a short car ride is fine at much younger or older ages.
I think most people as a very general rule don't let them go until at least a couple months.

Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

I will keep that in mind. I'm hoping that I do not need to attempt shipping. I'm not sure how many froglets I can keep in a grow out bin either. Right now they are very well spaced out, so I don’t have any other tads near metamorphosis.
I would like to get some 10 gallon glass aquariums setup in the basement just for grow out tanks, but that’s taking a lot of time convincing my husband.

i myself am holding onto my juveniles until a minimum of 3 to four months. that way they will be well established and observed for a while and i'll definitely know they will be hardy, well established and eating machines. anyone i twould rade or sell to deserves healthy, well fed individuals. young frogs are delicate. but as mentioned here i guess it would depend.
for thumbnails i'd wait even longer but all this is just what i feel comfortable with. a local trade might be different if shipping weren't involved and knowing the person can get them home safely in correct temps. you'll probably get a lot of different opinions on the subject. ask some of the guys that have been doing it many years, i'm sure they'll give good advice.

I breed Leucs, Tincs and Auratus. I wait until they're 3 months old before I will let them go. I see a change in their boldness between 2 and 3 months. IMO they are much stronger at 3 months.
