Dendrobates Azureus Egg and Tadpole Development Photographs
#1
Hopefully the title doesn't end up being false!

I received a male azureus in trade yesterday from TJ (Venomous). They wasted no time getting down to business.

Last night at 10:20 pm, they were in the cocohut and we witnessed the female passing some of the jelly. I looked this morning and found these four eggs.
Hopefully they are fertile and good. Otherwise, I'm sure there will be more clutches for me to try this with in the future.
I will do my best to document every day as I did with the Imitator thread!

NICE!!!!! The eggs look good. Did you pull them or are you keeping them in the tank?

Thats awesome Kim! Congrats!! I hope I can say the same here soon! I havent looked closely to see yet, but Im guessing if yours happened that fast, then one of the three cocohuts i have, have to have some or one of the huge broms have something...I hope! But that is great news Kim! I was a little worried about making sure you got a male for sure!
Thanks, TJ

I think I am going to leave them for now, and pull a tad when they hatch out. I'd like to try and keep them in the viv as much as possible though.

TJ- I couldn't believe it yesterday LOL. I hope they get going to for you soon, if they aren't already! Right now my two are in and out of the broms. The female you got in trade was just as round as the one I have here, so she was ready to go! Sorry I spelled your name wrong in my OP!

Very nice pics Kim and what looks to be promising potential for another great tadpole development thread.

Keep us posted

Day 2-
Hopefully they are still doing what they are supposed to. I did actually pull this petri dish. There's more dirt on the eggs from the frogs going in and out of the cocohut, and I didn't want it to get too dirty to inhibit decent photographs.

Egg's have started to cloud. So I'm done taking pictures for now. Probably for the best since I'll be a little preoccupied in a few days. I'll try again in a few weeks or so!

The first tadpole hatched yesterday. I've got a second that should be about a week behind, and 2 other eggs that are good. So I pulled this fresh clutch from yesterday to document.

A little off the topic, but is that a brom leaf in the Day 1 pic above? If so, do you know the name of it? And back to the topic, thanks for posting these shots, as a newb who has never seen eggs (except in ponds lol) it is very cool to get to see!

I was unable to keep taking the photographs after day 2 when my lens filters went missing. I have gotten a new set, but haven't pulled a new clutch of eggs to begin photographing again. Hopefully soon!
