You can see little screened vents to let the water flow under. I hot glued some eggcrate to the bottom so the foam had something to bite too.

OK for the background: On the bottom where the water meets the background, Is that just GS with silicone and coco?

Also, does the water lvl the same for the whole tank or is it just higher in the front. If so do you have a false bottom in the back?

Yep, it is. The openings of the cork were filled with pond foam.

The water 1 1/2" through the entire tank. The screen let's it flow through. I filled the land area with Leca/Hydroton and a layer of plastic screen. Then about two inch"s of substrate. There's very few terrestrial plants (Two I think) in there and they're also plants that are shallow rooted. A Kangaroo fern and one other.

Nope, but there is a blanket of duckweed in there to keep the water clean. I have to fish it out once and a while or it becomes a mat. Some Java and another floating plant.

Yeah I am familiar with duckweed. In the aquarium trade we just call it herpes.

This is great I'll probably hit you up with more questions as I get closer to building the 80. I have several tanks to build first but this will be a great reference.

The smaller vines are just nylon rope covered in silicone and coco fiber.

The larger ones were made of GS and covered the same way.

Take some saran wrap and mist it with water. Squirt in a line of GS to desired thickness and let it expand a bit. Around 3-4 times it's original size. It'll start to get somewhat hard in under 10 minutes. Give it another misting of water and wrap it lightly. The GS will harden to a point where it can be bent into and shape you would like. Practice a bit and it's easy peazy. 8)

Thanks mate,Glen even though we both speak the same language damn it amazes me when on a different country's site just how many words i have no idea what they are,alot are product names,yeah ok some are just beyond my humble grasp because i can do ok on most stuff but struggle with letters and English, what on earth is saran wrap :lol: ,i'm guessing the thin polyethene stuff that they use to wrap food,but i might be way off.
I'm a picky old sod with vivs mate,ha you know that already,despite our friendship its really a damn fine bit of work,i'm not just saying that,i really like this one!!

It seems when I build a viv I'm almost never happy with it. I'm very picky too. Every time I build a viv I see room for improvement. Live and learn I guess. Expensive way to learn though!! :roll:

My Wife and I haven't decided what Tinc we're going to put in it yet. We've bounced around the idea of adding Vittatus. It would be perfect for them, but that would take away from my experiment. I just might have to build another... 8)

ruddy heck that was a good shot in the dark,thanks for that mate. Damn that last sentence made me laugh.Yeah never happy with ones own work is the way it is,i guess,but its a good way to be mate,it means one is always pushing and never complacent, ha drives some folks nuts though.
