Leucs Calling at Night
#1
So I have a hex tank with 5 adult leucs in it. From my best guess I have 3 females and 2 males. The males are mostly shy, but one of them has been climbing up to the top of the tank, (day and night) and calling to the females. Has anyone else had a leuc that called at night? Just thought it was a little weird, wanted to see if this happens commonly.

I'd say its pretty common. My old leucs would call at night and the males in the group I have now rarely call during the day, but call every night.

Has anyone ever been woken up by their Leucs calling at night?

Yep...they can call all different times. Sometimes mine called at midnight, after the lights were off for many hours.

Not woken up....it's not like an alarm clock - not that loud. I suppose some people may think it's loud, but to me it would be nothing more than "God's music"(if I was traditionally religious ) and beautiful to hear at anytime at any volume.

At one time or another I have heard my more mature frogs call later in the eve - like 10-11pm (Example - Trunc/Imi/Anthonyi/pums etc)

I once heard a male leuc calling from my backyard...the tank was upstairs at the front of the house, so the sound carried through 2 closed doors (one of which was a dual-pane sliding door). So yeah, they are loud enough to wake you up, and to hear over a fish tank. I had one male that thought it was his job to call early in the morning...but only on days that I didn't have to be up early.

Not on topic, but I literally lol when I read that!

Back on track, I didn't realize that any of the PDF's would call at night. Thanks for posting about it, I will have to take that possibility into consideration before getting my frogs.

Not all PDF's call at night...in fact most do not. Leucs appear to be an exception.
