Show is coming up....known as the "tax refund" show and one of the year's biggest.
Always @ 6 different vendors / tables with dart frogs. Tons of supplies.
Any questions that I can help you with, if you've never been there ?

There always a dozen or so forum members walking around and @ 6 different dart frog vendors. You've been to Hamburg before, right ?

Unfortunately I won't be there. I think Rick is going to use my table though. I'll be roughing it in the Dominican Republic collecting arachnids instead.

Wow, that sounds terrible, it will be disgusting dealing with that warm weather and the stench of the ocean, wandering around some sticky, nasty jungle....who am I kidding, that sounds awesome, enjoy!

Just talked to Craig on the phone...he's got a bunch of subadults and adults and I would not be suprised if he can get you a male pretty qucik - get those females hooked up !

i was under the impression that there is no difference between spotted and solid. That either could be breed together and that a pair of solids would throw spotted and vise verse.
Is this not true?

We have no idea as to the locale that all those eldorado's were obtained but there is an obvious pattern difference in some of the imports.
Some hobbyists report that a group of "more or less" solid orange will occasionally throw a spotted or otherwise marked froglet. This happened very infrequently in my "solid" group, but it did happen a couple times.
The speckled eldorado froglets are consistent with the markings - 100% as I can tell.
That said, I kept my two groups separate simply because that is what made more sense to me in terms of what little management we can maintain and offer.
I have seen pics or in person, of many many solid / orange / reticulated-type pattern eldorado and have reports of hobbyists breeding all those together as they look very similar- even in size. NOW the speckled eldorado that you saw at my house and Craig now owns, are a little different IMO. Craig is doing what I did by keeping those separate and making sure they go to owners who do likewise. The pattern on those guys is uncommon.

Agreed, those spotted are bigger (~26mm) and throw consistently red, heavily spotted froglets like the ones pictured. The std eldo's (~24mm) throw pumpkin orange froglets that sometimes have some spotting on their back but do not compare to the heavy markings on the spotted. IMO they are representative of two populations, whether those populations overlap is unknown.

The show dates have been really horrible timing for me- so I am missing this one. When the one in April comes up I should have a bunch of Azureus froglets however. I haven't been able to make it to the past 3 shows.

They have a very good selection of Tincs, Leucs, auratus and many other species (including tree frogs). This is one of the largest shows in the country.
What you may NOT find, is pumilio and some of the $$$ stuff. A lot of people use Hamburg as a meeting point to transfer frogs or as a shuttle to get the frogs to people that have pre-arranged deals ect.
It is a great show for supplies and other stuff too.

It is definitely a better frog show than Whiteplains. The only vendor at WP not at Hamburg is Black Jungle. But, there are several vendors at Hamburg not at WP - Novy, Frogs N' Things, Dendro Joe. My friend Rick will be running my table. He should have some tarapoto imitators. He had an albino one at the last show.

I have been to the White Plains many times, if this one has more frogs maybe it is worth a try. What about plants and such ?

Plants it lacks because Black Jungle isn't there. I sometimes have cuttings, as does Dendro Joe. Michael Shrom usually has aquatic plants. The other cool thing about the show is that it has venomous animals and crocodilians.

Viv plants at Hamburg....ehhh...hit or miss. Black Jungle and WP is the show for plants.
