O. pumilio 'colon' isle lines ?
#1
Got a male colon from Charles Block-Almazan. He said it was a 'Mimitimbi'. I just want to find the right females for it. Does any one know more about his line. He said they're from a German research project.I don't know, maybe someone can help clear it up. thanks,
Jeremy

I'm in the same boat as you are. Got a male, no female. If they are what Charles claims, then we are both screwed. He is the only one (supposedly) to bring on that local, and they seem to be male heavy. So I hope he was lying so these guys will be easier to pair up. Here's a pic of mine.

Hey Jeremy, if you can get some info from CBA try and get a name of where they came from and email. Maybe Charles will give you a different story now, or maybe he can help you contact the person they came from. Even if you get a name, someone might be able to help you track the person down for some better info. I would not guess at what they are, its too difficult to tell colon from looking.

Anything positive come from this? Not sure how far what he has to say goes now, but who knows.... May have to set up a viv in my daughter's room so he is not a constant reminder of the transaction that just keeps giving/taking.... Bummer

Jeremy, no one is going to be able to tell you what line these are just by looking. Your best bet is to get any info from Charles...otherwise they are unknown origin which there are some other out there I believe. I have a feeling if you can get the info from Charles they have known lineage, which will make it much easier to line up a mate and/or make them more valuable.

Just talked to him,and he says they're mimitimbi from Germany research project he got sent on.He said that he knows someone that has a pair. We'll see.Cbreon - just seeing if someone has them or maybe know more about that line.I guess we have to find that cba line.

That's funny, before he said they were 'Bocas del Drago' from Europe.

I'm thinking he may be FOS too.

I believe Rich Frye and some others are working with mimitimbi from CBA, whether they actually are as stated is certainly debatable. You might not be able to get him to give up any of his stock but he might trade you for something else, email him and tell him your situation.

For what it is worth, Charles told me that he was working with 3 lines approx 6 mos ago. BDD's, Mimitimbis, and Villegas Nominat's...

Can't be worth much. 6 months ago he also told me he would be able to ship out 4 'robalo' in 6 months.

Side by side they look nothing like the ' drago' . It's shame because this is the one good frog I got from him, and the info is questionable.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop! Did he say he could produce anything concrete as proof of said German research ?

The only confimred lines I know of were the ones Scott Conley shipped out about 14 - 16 months ago, he had Drago and another location that escapes me but his were collected by him and then sent out by him. I got 3 pair of Drago from him ultimately, 1 pair is in Julio's hands, another was a lone female (after my male got caught in a near empty ff jar and succumbed) sent to Oz and I recently acquired another pair from a GA frogger reducing his collection. Some of the old lines may have had site info as well as some of the European imports however these would be subject to the same as the new imports, do you trust who is telling you the info.

I am not working with any frogs from Charles at this point.

Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.
