"Vivarium", "Viv" pronounciation ?

I've always said it " VI-varium"
and "Viv" like "Liv" or "give" Right or wrong ? thoughts ?

The Merriam-Webster dictionary on my iPad pronounces it Vi (long I sound) but no specific emphasis on any syllabol.
This site says it the way you mentioned and the way I've been saying it viv (short I sound) same as viv for short. http://www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=v ... mit=Submit
