Hey bro,ya good ? too long no speak!!!! ...mate i'm so transparent it hurts,i'd be crap at being dishonest hey mate
Ok today Stu is at the bottom of the garden,up to his armpits in dirty old water butts perfecting the trying art of getting live grub for his little tads, the sun is full bore and quietly he is content Shaz has helped till breaking and wandered off to see her frogs..from my idylic peace i hear her screaming "come here NOW!!!!! you've gotta see THIS!!!! ",on route Stu grab's camera 8)
Ok Tank is so bloody big she couldn't get the little fella off her back,so i had to remove all stones etc so she could do what she was attempting and in no time she had the job sorted but yes mate i do have pics
so QED tinc females can and will transport a tadpole and they know exactly what they are called upon to do
just one stunning moment, that really grabbed me as being silly cool,oh and all day she's been courting her fella
,but didn't shove him in the co co hut to be dirty,as per normal...i knew something was different but didn't expect this (just thought it was girly foreplay)  LMFAO,just shows again how important the observation is Glen

That's awesome Stu!

What would even be better is if she transported it. Do you have a water dish in there? It's now your DUTY to catch her transporting!! I don't think it's EVER been documented before...

Congrats on yout first Tinc tad. Beware, the froglets are pigs. lol

Stu!!! Congrats!! I'd love to see the female transporting. As you know I have several pairs of tincs and I've only ever seen the male transport. But I haven't caught them transporting every time either. Maybe I've missed it. I think this is just a reflection of the love and attention you give your frogs. Great job!!

Absolutly mate...ah finally my mates over there have understood me. one female tictorius carry her tads to water, because her poor fella doesn't know what the hell hit him and is pleading having a headache....hmm maybe you guys don't get our humour,i'm sorry
We are so passionate about this stuff,if you add in my mad sense of humour, the differences in the same languagethat we speak and my inability to master my own county's language its easy to see the confusion, apologies for being so excited

That is awesome Stu! Very cool that you caught it! Funny you had to make room for her to deposit the tad in the water, she really must be a tank!

Cool glen  she picked up the tad kept all the courtship going with him and tried repeatedly to drop off the tad,but until i increased the water depth it was physically impossible to do the drop,i removed the rest of the hatch because 6 tads wouldn't have a chance in that little body of water, but have left the one to see how he fares,it will be good to know if a tad can be reared in a euroviv ditch. She knew exactly what she was doing, and i think you might be right about wanting to use the same site for more eggs, she is incredibly productive as befits her body, mass i guess...just wonderful to see,as long as they know its us via hearing our voices they are both incredibly relaxed now in our presence, which is why she allowed me to interfere with her drop off sight and just carried on with her duties i would suppose
best

Thanks Lisa credit to Shaz as always without her i would have maybe missed it,what with feeding the tads weighing on my mind, yeah she is a seriously big lady, hence the name on more than one occasion she has had us cringing as she lands from the top of her viv, what with a false glass floor an all!!! She is audible from some distance ,her poor fella is getting a torrid time even the stroking is somewhat aggressive ,dominatrix is maybe the right word

I have raised a lot of tank raised tads in tiny amounts of water with no help from us at all. Not feeding. They seems to just fine grazing on the biofilm and algae. They will eat flies that fall into the water as well. It's VERY rewarding to see a froglet crawl onto land in tank!! Big Grin

Cheers

Thanks for this Glen,it will be real exciting to see how this one gets along,we are hoping that this is going on elsewhere as well in another tank, but we can't find where he put the tads, not yet anyways! Glen have you actually seen more than one tinc tad raised together, in the the same very small body of water?
Man this hobby is fantastic,we think things are ticking along ,and then we get to see another extra ordinary thing and another and another,
I'm off to get dirty again much froggy stuff to do,

I have seen it myself. I have had two Bakhuis Tincs come out of the water within a week of each other. My water areas are very small. I have two friends that are having success raising groups of them with larger water areas. Maybe the size of a desert plate. One guy has 5 BYH in a small pool and another has about the same amount of Leucs in a slightly larger water area. They don't bother one another at all. I'm guessing because there is always food available.

Thanks Glen particularly grateful as i have abit more to update, there are 2 tads in the water so she was on a mission to move them all,and yes she was clearing her spawning site ready as she knew that she was going to lay again, hence the courtship whilst carrying tad, eggs are present in the hut. So female darts can multitask, pretty damn clever really methinks
