Terribilis breeding aggression?
#1
My terribilis recently started laying eggs on May 23rd. I have 2 males and 1 female.
This is what I find when there is calling in the vivarium:

Is this aggression that I should be worrying about?

That's the one of the few species of Dart Frog that I have not kept....but I would like to in the future.

They seem to have a little more complex social structure, at least in our care - in group or colony vivariums.

Come on Terrib people....don't be shy.

I have a breeding pair of mints that have been laying like crazy.
My female jumps on my males back when he calls, especially when they first started breeding.
She does not do it as often now.

Beth- in the picture the female is on the very bottom depositing eggs, a male is directly on top of her. The second male is on top of both of them facing the other way...
I'm hoping this is something they outgrow!

I have found and heard from others that the breed better in pairs.
They are great group frogs but can distract each other when they start breeding.
You can just watch them and make sure there is no stress or just pull the extra male.
FYI once they start breeding, be ready. I stopped counting tads at 60.

oy! They laid 13 eggs in the first clutch, but I only got one tadpole from it. This clutch is 17 eggs...
Since I don't really have room for a bunch of froglets I'm not planning to pull many. I can see myself getting overrun fast!!!!

Oy is right!
My pair average around 17 but have pulled clutches as large as 25 plus.

The good thing is they can be raised communally.
Mine have finally started to slow down with summer on its way and less rain.
