ideas on storing extra media?

Maybe this is not a big issue for most experienced froggers with large collections, but I only need to feed 2 frogs, so I end up taking about 3 months to use up 3 lbs of media (try not to fall out of your chair laughing). I've read that cold temps kill mites, so I have tossed my "extra" media in the freezer, and I keep a few weeks supply in the fridge. Is this a waste of space in the freezer/fridge?

The freezer would work fine - sure. No muss, no smell and I doubt that the media would degrade or go bad.

I use a restaurant quality airtight sealed clear tub. As long as it seal-able and tight...no worries. Also, store any media away from the actual active FF cultures.

oh..some other clarification. I don't refrigerate. The media storage container I like is clear (easy to see into and check for anything) and the lid has NO lip. Lips and tabs ect, are all potential places for mites to congregate unseen. I like for the lid and to be smooth and 'clean' , if that all makes any sense..lol

Lol. Yep I know what you mean. Right now I just have a couple 3lbs bags of commercial media in the freezer and a little Tupperware bowl in the beer fridge

Storing it cold will extend the life.
