Ranitomeya Amazonica "Arena Blanca" morph
#1
I just saw Mark's ad on another forum and heard he is now offering this morph! I got to see this frog in person when in Peru and I must say it is BEAUTIFUL!!! It offers a variation in pattern but resembles the retic a lot. Im curious to see how many people are planning on purchasing this morph. Please feel free to share if you are as it would be good to know who receives this amazing thumbnail and my second personal favorite thumbnail that comes out of Peru. Below is a little information on them that I copied and pasted from Dendrobates.org

"This is a relatively recently discovered morph of R. amazonica. It also occurs in the vicinity of Iquitos. For some time we suspected that these frogs may have belonged to a new species, although extensive genetic data place them nested within the amazonica clade. Many individuals bear a striking resemblance to the sympatric R. reticulata; we suspect this may represent another instance of Muellerian mimicry in poison frogs."

Okay, apparently it isn't (just went and looked at dendrobates.org). I guess those pictures are suggesting the "Arena Blanca" are variable from individuals that look like the nominate morph to ones that resemble retics.
