Albino Mint P. terribilis Tadpoles ?
#1
I've got 3 of these guys now.
They are not developing as fast as their siblings. In fact, the eldest's sibling has been OOW for over a month now, and this guy doesn't even have back legs.

And youngest tadpole with it's sibling:

Middle guy:

Eldest- starting to get some coloration, but he's also getting reddish.

Don't think those are albino. the eyes are black. Iv had a few treefrog tads look like that and they morphed out normal and stayed that way. Could be another genetic mutation of some sort but i wouldnt expect much.

Did they take longer than normal to morph out? None of the colorless guys have any indication of legs forming. The other tads in the clutches are growing normally.

Anyone one have an answer on if I should expect these guys to ever morph, or just remain "forever" tadpoles. They are STILL tads, with no more coloration, or signs of development.

Here's a new picture of two of them from this morning.

I have had tads from same clutch morph out over the space of 3 weeks. You would never know the difference looking at the froglets.

These guys have been tads for months...
The one for close to 6months, maybe more.

That can happen , although it usually only effects one or two out of a great many tads.
\What are you feeding the tads? What are the temps? What kind of water and additives? How often are water changes?
No, those are not albino , BTW. At best they'd be a bit hypomelanistic. But I'd don''t think this is a genetic issue either.
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

Rich, I don't use any additives. Plain filtered tap water. Room temp from 68-72 degrees. I clean out some dirty water every couple of weeks, and add a bit more in. They have some anacharis in the 16oz deli cups.
Feeding them HBH frog and tadpole bites. These 3 are from 2 different clutches, that were a few weeks apart. I haven't had any more like them.
All of my other frog pairs are producing normal healthy offspring...

I'd not worry about it. Every species has tads issues of some sort every now and then. As long as the vast majority are good everything seems OK.

If they make it past tadpole stage and morph out they will color up like normal. As for food I would consider a good flake food as tadbites are not great. It's like us eating potato chips. There is more filler and junk in them than good. The second ingredient is wheat flour, the third is wheat gluten,sixth-soy flour,seventh-wheat starch....bottom line it's not the best food for them.I use different foods but recommend using a good quality flake food with color enhancers as a main staple.Good luck with them.
