I have a Santa Isabel Tricolor, and have multiple plants in my vivarium. He seems to like the leaf litter, and also jumps up on the plants. I do not currently have a background that will fit my 12x12x18 exo terra, i keep reading that this type of frog is more terrestrial. SDhould i invest in a new background for climbing or will the rearrangement of the habitat stress my little guy out?

They are considered 'Terrestrial", yes. And leaf litter and broad leafed plantings are pretty important. A large wood feature / centerpiece was always enjoyed by my colony. They love to be under and around it. I would keep the viv simple for now. You can always do more when you make another viv. You DO know this hobby is dangerous, as it leads to 'excess viv hording"

They do also like to find high spots to call from even though they are considered terrestrial.
