Queen's Tear Plant - frog safe ?
#1
I have some Queen's Tear plants and I was wondering if anyone knows if they are safe for frogs?

If it looks the same as Billbergia Nutans than I imagine its fine as the hobby uses other bilbergia in vivs. Often times, the big issue making plants 'not frog safe' is whether they have been exposed to pesticides and/or fertilizers. In this case, they need cleaned, repotted, and probably watered for a few months until the fertilizers are flushed.

I have also heard that some plants are unsafe because of their sap/flowers/pitchers, etc... I don't have much experience with carniverous plants and frogs, or sap-heavy plants and viv use, so I can only suggest that when in doubt, don't. There are really, plenty of frog safe plants out there that are readily available and cool looking, and that will thrive in a viv environment with little additional effort. Maybe some others can offer their advice...
