Catappa / Indian Almond leaves ?
#1
Hi all, just came across an add for Catappa leaves, used to feed amphibians and fish, and also good to make tadpole tea. Anyone heard of it? A search here at DD brought up nothing.

Thanks Phil! I know about Indian Almond leaves, I have them and use them. Didn't know they were the same thing. Thanks again!

I hear a lot about these being used for tadpole tea, but I can't find much about leaf litter. Is there any benefit to adding a layer of catappa? And more importantly, is there any reason *not* to do it?

too $$ possibly...and it would break down really quick as leaf litter, I would think.

Ah, good to know; I already have problems with my leaves breaking down too fast. I'll stick with the classics. As for cost, there appear to be some good prices on eBay.

Most ebay Indian almond leaves are sold pressed flat. That's another point...LL should be like pringles chips - like the larger magnolia leaves. That way the frogs can get between them and make proper use of the as a hide and to go for some higher humidity.
