Tank vs Exo terra
#1
I am really new to this frogging stuff, so please forgive me for the questions i'm sure you've answered many of times. I did a search looking for the answer but did not find anything.

Anyway.. My question(s) is, what are the pros and cons between using a normal aquarium, vs an exo terra? I am familiar with exo terra's design from researching them for chameleon use. How do you get enough ventilation in a normal aquarium? I read a thread on here talking about using small computer fan (also done this with screen cages) but i'm not sure how you'd go about it with glass?? Now are fans necessary, or just one way to go about ventilation? I do not plan on drilling my viv, due to being a bit freaked about doing it and plan on having an easy access pipe to siphon water out of. Especially if i get an exo terra. Dont feel like making a 200 + - mistake!

best quick advice - insist on a 'front opening" tank. Much better than fishtanks to maintain ect.

here's a good thread to chew on...

id like to go tank route obviously because its cheaper (my cousin has a30 or 40 gal he's giving me) but, obviously I think the front doors in the long run would be worth it. Now as for if I went with exo terra, I'm still not sure as to what footprints work best. Long, or tall. Id imagine a longer print would be best, no?

It depends on what frogs you want to keep. Some prefer larger footprints, while others prefer taller enclosures to climb. The best advice I received here, was to decide on a frog and then build the enclosure to that frog. Its tough to pick one species, and stick to it. I've had my tank up for about 2.5 months and have been back and forth on the species. Ultimately my wife kept me on track with the "cuter" frogs!

I ended up just spending the money on a new 36 x 18 x 28 exo terra. I like cobalt tincs so far but we will see what happens.
