EASY one for me to choose, and I hope others would agree.

Wait for warmer weather. It's right around the corner as well, not like you have to wait 6-8 weeks.

Why rush to ship and endanger the frogs ???

Absolutely nothing shipped with lows below freezing for me.
Hurry and this hobby don't mix.
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

Not for nothing phase 22 panels double boxed will get them there no harm, especially when the receivers temp will be just about the 50s

Pack warm and youll be fine. Not like theyll be in michigan all night before shipping. Boxes are kept in bins overnight that are in the 70s ... Heat pack on top and bottom and a few gel packs...ph22s instead on gels if you want

yes i have all that the problem its going to NY even if they have 45f. here in Michigan if you take the box to fedex at 12 midday they hold the boxes in the truck all afternoon the plane always leave at 10 pm and that's my concern. now the big question and we all know big companies like LLL, BIG APPLE, etc they don't ship it at lower temperatures from 40f they are in business longer than us they must do it for a reason.

Anybody have to chase a box down for a couple/few days due to lost or otherwise situations? Multiple times?

Great shipping temps are right around the corner.

I currently have a couple shipments waiting to go out but the temps aren't quite there yet. I double styro box with phase panels, gel packs and heat packs. Would my shipments arrive ok right now? I think they would be fine, but the fact is, if the frogs die everyone loses and you are likely the one that loses the money. For those reasons, I wait until its right, and everyone I have ever dealt with has been understanding after some explanation.

i am curious, has anyone gotten stuff from strictly in the winter months. and how where they packed. since they have stuff that they don't/can't sit on for warmer weather. for me its temps in th low to mid 30s at night.
wish i knew someone in fla. could ship to them and they could repack it better and ship to me. Smile or if i was closer i would drive down.

I know of two guys here who got winter shipments this winter from Jr. who lost the shipments. And unless you are a very good customer ($$$), you pay for the replacements.

I have gotten shipments and sent out multiple all winter without incident. One package even took two days and the frogs were fine. Great packing is key. Cryopacks, heat packs, and drop off as late as possible with 1030 delivery UPS. Just my 2 cents, but others that have been doing this much longer obviously have more experience, so i would trust what they say.

I would agree that late dropoff, preferably at a hub and good packagaing and materials will greatly reduce your chances of an issue or loss. However, weird things like a lengthy stay, exposed on a tarmac, can be bad, especially with extreme temps.

Another thing you cant compensate for is poor handling. You can have them double boxed, with heat packs, phase panels, cryo packs, packaging peanuts and if someone shake the hell out of your box it might kill the frogs...also, heat packs and cryo packs can explode causing issues as well...some thoughts

I have personally had multiple, multiple heat pacs that went bad. Both by being WAY tooo hot, and duds that while they seemed to be kicking petered out way before delivery.

Bottom line, why would there be a big rush unless you are dealing with guys who HAVE to pump 'em in and then pump 'em out right away.

Why anybody would deal with businesses like that is beyond me. Well, not quite true. I have a good guess...

I ship during all temps, just not during storms that could cause delays. I test all heat packs. I also pack different then anyone I know. I haven't had a problem in over a decade. Not quite that simple, it does take some skill, and if in doubt, wait. Frogs health comes first.

agreed, this approach should raise some flags...

Sometimes its as simple as bad luck...avoiding extreme temps is an easy way to greatly minimize the risks of shipping. Although there are plenty of us that feel our preperation can greatly reduce the threat posed by temps, even extreme temps, but its really not worth the risk... If something does happen, what was the big rush? There's usualy good temps right around the corner...
