To a Good Home - Clown Tree Frog
#1
Hello all. Took in a clown tree frog from a friend (who apparently has underfed it for some time and realized that it was time to give it up before he lost it)... I've been keeping it in my QT tank for about a week, but need to redo some vivs for incoming frogs and have to use the QT tank.

First person to provide some much-needed nutrition and pick it up in northern Utah gets it.

I am SO SORRY for this frog, but....I am tired of people who "save" frogs, but won't feed them or care for them! People! If you take a frog to "save" it, really save it! Feed it, mist it, care for it, make an effort!! 6 weeks ago I took 4 frogs that were "free to a good home"...........I picked them up 2 hours from home, and they were emaciated, hideously emaciated. I wrote about them here, and was attacked for being ungrateful, or for saying something "bad" about the man who "saved" them and gave them to me. Come on! If someone wants to give you frogs that aren't doing well, only take them if you are willing to put in the effort to save them. 30 or 40 fruit flies a day, come on! What is the big deal? One person had the gall to say that he was feeding his frogs 8 flies a day, and wondered why they weren't doing well? Jeezus!!!!! I've only had PDFs 11 monthes, but the ones I have are doing really well, they are fat and sassy! And reproducing!

The thing is these people are giving them away.... for whatever reason, to give them a chance.

If everyone that decides to give away their animals gets a public flogging, more will end up getting flushed. And

that I would think is counter productive.

You should've seen it before I started giving it crickets, Diane... I'm all for helping this little guy out, but I don't have any desire to keep crickets around long term. I had my fill of them when I raised chameleons many moons ago, thus no long-term plans for tree frogs.
I'm planning to fatten this little frog up, load it with vitamins, and find it a good, permanent home. So, thank you kindly for your input, but please forgo the soapbox. It's unnecessary fluff for this kind of thread...

Sorry I got on my soapbox, Zonz,
Glad you saved it and are finding a good, permanent home for it! And I hear you about crickets they are a pain, and they stink.
I really am not mad at the ones who save them, I have saved my share! It's just frustrating that people get an impulse pet, and forget about it/lose interest so soon.
Please accept my apology, and THANK YOU for taking the time/effort to find it a good home!

Good luck with the rehoming, zonz.

It's unfortunate that your efforts were rewarded with a barrage of assumptions.

I don't think it's 'ego"....I think it's a case of speaking excitedly or impulsively. For true 'ego', one must have a long standing agenda and must be much more verbally prolific ,say, like the owner of a Dart Frog Forum

Thanks all for your help and concern. The tree frog has found a much roomier, and more posh living space than my QT tank. I'm sure it will be keeping it's new owner up all night in no time!
