coconut shell hut - moss ?

I am trying to construct a coconut shell hut. I am wondering how to get moss to grow on it so it blends in and looks natural. Does anybody know how?

I placed my coco hut on top of a mat of java moss and it eventually climbed over and consumed the hut.

I think cocohuts look pretty natural as is...just my opinion. I'm not bothered by films cans either though. Take some dry 'dead' spagnum moss and place little bits of it on the hut. Water every day and with good light, you'll have moss growin on the roof in a couple weeks.

I soak my coco huts in water for 48 hrs then cover the top with a little bit of java moss and keep it moist for a few weeks.
Voila'!

Yes they are. For some reason my pair of Bahkuis decided they couldn't wait to actually get inside the coco hut.

Just a standard petri dish. They have no problems laying eggs in the hut...but not this time.

Coco huts and petri dishes have been a very practical combination for some time now. It's really all I use other than some film canisters for some thumbnails. All my larger frogs readily breed in the coco huts. What do you use?

My azureus pair actually prefer petri dishes over broms as deposit sites. They can both easily fit in the dish without going through contortions to deposit and fertilize. It also makes it a lot easier to pull eggs if you're so inclined. Here's the female in her dish - they abandoned using 6 broms in the upper portion of the viv when I placed this in a cave near the floor:

Initially I misted the dish but the male ends up watering the eggs himself. I provide another water source on the other side of the viv and he soaks there and transports to the dish. So now I just put in dry dishes. Just my experiences - I'm still new!
