Air inlet/outlet needed ?
#1
So I've been doing the ground work, blue print and layout of my vivarium and I'm trying to figure out if I need to add port holes for air to come in and escape the vivarium.any advice would be great full.

It's always good to have some passive ventilation.

I believe that some sort of ventilation is a good thing. It not only prevents stagnant air inside the vivarium, but allows the frogs to self regulate temperature.

Wouldn't you get the ventilation you need when opening the door to feed or does it need more constant ventilation.

Hard to say. How big is the viv ? What is the exact humidity ? What are the temps ? How often to you open the door?

As you can see, like with 98.67% of everything in this hobby...it's far from an exact science / able to be succinctly answered.

The viv is about 900 gallons. In mock trials of just the shell set up its about 95% humidity 75-80 degrees. I figure the doors would be opened twice a day for feeding. What do you think.

900 gallons you say ? Wow...bigger viv's like that need multiple extra ventilation spots - both passive and active. Add some ports and check it out. Then you can also close them off with a constructed plastic cover if need be.

Quick and easy answer is no, you don't need ventilation if a viv is set up correctly. As soon as lights go on and heat is added air flow starts.
Plug in a lava lamp and see what movement heat causes.
Plants and opening doors create way more air flow than needed.
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.
