Surrogate Obligate breeding
#1
Hello Dartden, and Happy New Year!

I just wanted to share this event. About 3 moons ago died one of my old oophage pumilio colon females, I don't know the cause, but I suppose she was tired of days Sad

Just before she died she was starting to move tadpoles in the terrarium, and she was also started to feed-up. So what to do when a good breeding femal is dead, and the tadpoles are kicking and dances to be nourished?!. I took one of the colon tadpoles which was located in a photo container and I place it randomly in a bromeliads with one of my oophaga histrionica bullseye pairs which were already in the process of feeding tadpoles

Now, just 3 moons after this GIANT colon calms ashore as a successful surrogate breeding experiment Big Grin

This is awesome! This too worked for me on a few occasions with blackjeans and blue jeans tadpoles. Looks like histo mom is trying to decide if thats a small cricket for lunch or a baby frog! Undecided

Good afternoon nameless.

I can also confirm that blue and black jeans easily can surrogate of each other tadpoles, But I violated the bedset resutat in this coherence is when black-jeans feed-up blue-jeans tadpoles, it has giving me the best and strongest pups!

I have also try several times to get black-jeans to feed-up histrionica tadpoles, and it has also enabled me 3 times to get them on land, but unfortunately they have always been too small or too fragile to survive more than a week after :? I'm pretty sure it is possible to obtain life-skilled pups in this manner, but with little adjustment...

Hello KGB

It is interesting!, I was in the belief that your kompi would not be feasible...

Unfortunately I have no ranitomeya species in my collection for this study ... Do you have any photos we can see?

In the coherence with Alternatives Raising of Obligate Egg-Feeding Tadpoles, have this article written by Robb Melancon from U.S.A kept me going, Clik HER

Hallo Flemming

Nice to meet you too in Dartden!. You can find me 200 km to the south in Svendborg, but as we speak I am admitted to the University hospital in Odense with my wife, we just got a beautiful daughter Big Grin

Flemming, I think we must know each other's contacts here in Denmark!?, because we're becoming a rare species in the country Sad

Maybe we have met at the Nordic-frogday in Copenhagen at a time?, and maybe you know me from the Danish color-frog forum http://www.dendromania.dk . It is myself and Mads Jensen from Roskilde, as owning and managing the forum, and you are very welcome to visit us in the Danish varsion of the Dartden, if you like to?

Hi Morten,
The person you are referring to is not in fact nameless. His name is Sidney Ferrell and you can read all his glowing feedback on his beware threads right here on a DartDen.
Ferrell has been banned numerous times from this forum due to all his lies and thefts. Phil has become tired of banning him day in and out, so Ferrellis allowed to posted here.
Just some info I thought you would like to know.
Now, pertaining to the surrogate care. Many great reports of this when needed. Most of us agree that simply having too many eggs or tads every now and again does not qualify the moving of tads or eggs to new lesser crowded tads areas or vids , rather letting them do their own thing and possibly using the surrogacy in extreme cases, as with deaths you mention.
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

If tone is more important to you than content, you are at the wrong place.

Hey Rich

Thanks for the info, how are you keeping up in the snowstorm, hope you and your frogs are warm and healthy.

First of all it's a sad that Sidney Ferrell is in bad standing in the forum, and it's a shame that Dartden has to be about other people's history and credibility, but at the same time I can see why it is important in a forum with so many members, in denmark is not a big problem because we are so few in the hobby and everybody knows each other and have to behave

As for my little experiment and home study, I can only agree with your in this regard, for me it has always been important to breed and keep color frogs in the most natural way, and all tests I've done with surrogate care have only been attempted to become more certain to this subject, not to get bigger profit out of surrogate care!. As you mentioned in another post it is not a breeding competition..

Rich, I wonder, how do you feed-up your oophaga granulifera during their development in your post about Morphing Osa Granny ?

Hey morten
Seems like youre a super smart frogger and can see things how they are. Im the one in bad standing yet simply joined your post to add some positive comments and rich takes the time out of his busy life to go out of his way and inform you of something he was never asked by you and yet again give a great thread a sour taste and ruin it....but of course im the bad one here. Well have a wonderful sunday as I will and back to my cookout! Go 49ers!
