After talking with Brandon and discussing the cheap petri dish sharp edges issue, I feel I found a better alternative. It's the lids from electrical tape containers from 3M brand 33, 88 or 35 are a lot softer. Just make sure you wash out the containers real good I don't know what chemicals are used in the glue, they maybe be left over inside. I posted this at the "other board" when I found some folks where having issues finding petri dishes. I best part is if you have an electrician friend the containers are free...

I bumped a couple relevant threads for ya, on this topic. I would never use a lid or plastic from anything like that, especially with it touching or being in proximity to glues or adhesives.Scary. Glass is cheap and readily available and doesn't have to be exactly a 'petri dish'.

there is no WAY a glass petri dish is cutting a frog. I call BS on that....

Cheap one's don't have sharp edges either. You'd have lawyers and lawsuits about little timmy and tommy getting cut.

50 cents to a dollar or so...how can you NOT afford to use glass over plastic??
small cups, low dishes, ashtrays that are flat and don't look like an ashtray are ALL better to use for tadpoles and eggs than plastic.

I agree with you on this plastic vs glass issue. I actually use small glass vials instead of film containers, but the fact is I see plastic being used more often then glass and was just throwing the tape container thingy out there. With brand new tape, the lids have a label between the tape and the lid. Maybe we need to spread the word on glass...
