Greetings from Oregon

Hello DartDen! My name is Andrew "Drew" Neskahi, and I am new as of today to DartDen! I've have been evolved with, and hooked on dart frogs since forever though. I must admit, I have been a lurker to this site for years! Lol! I've had to sell off my last collection several years ago, due to an unforeseen situation. But now I've finally found stability once again. So as an honest dart frogger, it's my very pleasure to finally be apart of the DartDen community!
Happy froggin'!!!

Hello srod, welcome to you as well! Smile And yes. I'm going to be starting from the ground up again. This time though, I'm going to try to look for someone who possibly has eggs, or tads for sale. My two young sons find it extremely fascinating when it comes to a frog's process of metamorphosis. They were a little too young to really understand the process when I had my last collection.

That sounds very interesting have u raised them from eggs or tads before? I thought about doing that but couldn't justify the price of a tadpole vs the price of the frog being that shipping was the same price regardless. My daughter is super excited to see the frogs I've decided to get some R. VERADERO just have to find some fore sale all stores online are sold out at the moment Sad ..... what type of darts did you have before and which are you planning on getting now?

I would recommend checking the classifieds or post a wanted ad, with froglets from a reputable breeder, you are better off than buying tads, while they may be less expensive shipping is high so have to weigh the tads don't morph right or having a froglet that can be raised to maturity breed then raise tads. Personally I think it is a better lesson for kids to raise froglets to breeding adults than just buying tads.

From my experience srod, it's very rewarding, and it became very addicting. I had pairs of frogs that would call and lay eggs almost on a rotating, every other week schedule. That is, between several pairs of frogs though. I used to work with;

D. Tinctorius "Azureus"
D. Tinctorius "Brazilian yellowhead"
D. Tinctorius. "Oyopok"
D. Tinctorius "powder greyleg"
R. Imitator "Intermedius"
R. "Veradero"
P. Terribilis " "Orange"

Lol! Thanks Phil, that's very kind. I remember you all too well. I remember you from other forums too. And I'm very honored to be HERE. This community seems far more friendly, and conflict free. Know what I mean?

You're going to have to send me some pics of those Veraderos when they come in!!! They are very beautiful frogs, and very surprisingly bold! I really miss mine. You're gonna love them, I'm telling you! And what a beautiful low soft call the males have... I hope you have a very relaxing vacation as well!
Travel safe!

That's for the advice BcsTx! I've been contacting many of my dart frog buddies who have quality specimens over here in my neck of the woods. At the same time keeping my eyes peeled on all classifieds from quality sources such as Dartden's classifieds. I totally agree with you on the extra money spent on water weight concerning shipping and what not. And yes, I do want a proven pair. But this time around, we're wanting to start with a dart frog, or a couple, that are in their "baby" stages, so that we can raise them as a family friend. Similar to watching a puppy grow, rather than jumping right into a breeding setup situation. Trust me, the lessons will come. I'll still be at the helm of everything concerning the well being of the frogs. As they are still too young to comprehend the importance of it.

Welcome Drew! My kids got me into the hobby and now we're hooked Smile They have enjoyed all aspects of the hobby from making cultures to building vivs, listening to tincs calling (quite the challenge for the youngin's to be quieter than a tinc) and tad development. It's great to be able to share a hobby with the family. Looking forward to seeing how your collection grows!
