i just got a call about an hour ago. it was from Dr Frye's office. I expected to have to treat all 3 frogs for parasites. however, The girl told me all 3 of my frogs are free of parasites. So i jumped the gun and put them together in one of the QT tanks. they all ignored each other. i suspect they are all females. none are going after each other, they are all enjoying a late snack of melanogaster ff.

Hi Colleen,

Try to remove and add as little as possible. The odd skirmish won't hurt them. When introducing groups of adult Tincs to a viv, I've seen them fight pretty hard for hours (No frogs were harmed in this demonstration! Tongue ) They're trying to establish a hierarchy and disrupting them will only prolong the process. It can take hours, days or even weeks and at times a sub dominant will challenge the leader. (Think - Wolf pack)

Unless you see a frog hiding excessively or not eating they should be fine and will work things out on their own.

Best of luck!
Glenn

I agree with Glenn and I'd give it some time to work itself out. You may also want to scatter your flies around the viv. That will give your frogs a chance to spread out and get food. Sometimes feeding in a localized spot may encourage conflict. Rich had suggested blowing the flies as you dump them from your feeder cup. That spreads them around nicely and forces your frogs to work a little foraging. Mine are fat enough so they could use the exercise too Smile

today was great, no wrestling, no 'in your face' situations, they were all very good today. i fed them a lot, and they seemed to be fine just eating and walking around. i hope this is the way it will be. Still keeping a good eye on them.

Unfortunately a negative fecal doesn't necessarily mean "parasite free", but it is a good sign that GI parasites are not posing an immediate issue. It's still wise to monitor the group for weight loss and unusual behavior, and get regular fecal tests done once or twice a year. Good luck with them, the tank looks nice!
