Is there anyone here on Dart Den that keeps and breeds this species?

This particular dart frog has always been on my short list of frogs to raise. I'd also appreciate any firsthand experience you might have with this frog.

In case anyone is interested in this species, someone got ahold of me and told me they had some for sale over at Black Jungle. I went and checked them out. They were a little pricey for me but it's good to know they are still out there.

I'll take another one of my 'non scientific' guesses at the number of these kept in the US hobby...

Probably less than twenty people with active, breeding, working groups. Pretty rare.

I have been successfully breeding quinqs for a few years now. Highly under rated in my opinion. Very pretty frog. For me, they are on the shy side and seem to produce seasonally. The last 2 seasons or so they have been very prolific for me. I think I raised over 2 dozen last year. I am hoping they start up again soon for me since I haven't seen any eggs or tads since around July of last year, maybe a little after that. Funny thing is that this seems to be a frog that a lot of people want until I offer it to them. A few years ago I had some adults available at Microcosm and they ended up coming home with me. Nobody wanted them. I was a bit surprised but at the same time kinda happy I got to keep them!

Thanks for the responses. I found another site selling them but I forgot the company's name. For a long time I never saw them and now I've come across two online retailers. Years ago when I first started researching dart frogs these were some of the first dart frog pictures I came across.

Mellowoo421 - I'll keep you in mind and watch to see if you ever have any for sale. I guarantee you that when you have them available I'll buy some. You are also in CA with me so that's an added bonus in terms of shipping time.

I'm trying to get them going again. Haven't seen anything yet this year. May be time to redo their home. Its overgrown and unsightly at best.

This is a link to a recording I took last night of the quinqs calling. It is rare that I hear it. May actually only be the 2nd or 3rd time I could say for sure it was them. It's taken with my cell phone but it's pretty good quality audio. It was taken with the phone laying on top of the viv on a vent.

Thanks for the pictures and the recording. I haven't been spending much time here lately and this is the first I saw your replies.

If you ever get them breeding please post the results here on the forum. I'm thinning out my collection and selling all my froglets right now but I definetely have room set aside for this species.

Here is my first clutch this year. I'm hoping there will be more to follow. The temps have been lower than normal in my area for this time of year. I really think that seasonal cycles are important for these frogs. It just began to warm up this last week or so.
