Darklands Froglet pulled yesterday

Pulled yesterday.....
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

Very nice Rich!! So when do you plan to offer Darklands for sale? To this point, I don't think you've sold any of them right? I suppose you're reserving a large portion of them for future breeding programs.

Got any more pics??

Is that speckled pattern known for darkland or is it more of the lighting?

The speckled/glitter look goes away with age. I am guessing this one has not been hopping around the viv for months.

Rich, that is one fat little froglet. he has to be at least a month, probably more. Its a flat out amazing frog. The uber viv is productive, but im curious as to how you fattened this guy up in that monsterous viv. In my parental vivs, i can get the springtails, fruit flies and mites to the babies , but when i switch them to ten gallons they eat way better. If this guy was just pulled yesterday then it was already a plump guy. Whats your technique, daily springtail dumps? some other food source?

Bummer they dont maintain a speckle pattern, its quite a nice variation. The red chiriquis and greens that speckle are among my favorite. I have not had it breed through. At least the froglets i morph sometime have the appearance of speckle as babies but it comes out. I remember when i first saw your Darklands pics on Fry brothers Frogs, was pumped to see speckles. The variation of pumilio is part of the excitement. When your breeding them, you see the tadpole and you wonder what will the pattern be, the froglet, how will it change.

Hi Jace,
All of the Darklands I have pulled seem to be very healthy.
I have found that no matter how well you bleach, clean, whatever plants going in-viv , they will have a certain amount of hitch-hiker bugs. Fungus gnats in soil, mites, ants, whatever. I had seeded the viv for quite awhile before adding the adults, but I only seed about once a month with springtails. I am assuming that tons of plants = a decent amount of hitch-hikers. I feed melanos about two-three times a week.
Some of the Darklands do have a pattern variation with some speckles, they are just not metallic like the newer froglets.
Oh, and put an Avatar up. Would ya?

Those are beautiful little guys.

I'd love to have some when I get my viv set up.

Ace, I sent you the pic. Should be good for an avatar.
