User Names/ Real Names
Hi everyone! My name is Scotty Bradley. I am not a scientist, instead I have been a machinist practically my whole life. I am the father of three, two boys and one girl. I enjoy fishing, hiking, camping, boating. I have a green cheek conure and four species of darts. I would have to say my favorite part of the hobby is terrarium construction. My favorite frogs even though very common are leucomelas, and my four year old leopard frog. There is no such thing as an ugly frog with only one exception to the rule. I am sure everyone knows what i am talking about. Sorry for the long post!............Scotty Bradley

Real names are good, if you are so inclined to use them, but I realize that some people are a little squeamish about the last name and I totally get that.

A first name, should be no problem though.

Thoughts ?

Ehh I like my forum name. Its recognisable across hobbies. Just google d3monic....95% of the content that comes up was authored by me excluding the occasional gamer listing...which doesnt make sense since thats my gamer tag as well. I would hate to loose that (not that its something to be proud of)

No ,I mean KEEP your Screen Name.....it's also a Brand. I have over 8,000 Dart Frog related posts out there under "Philsuma". It's a body of work that I could not change to my real name.

Just don't be afraid to insert your real name occasionally in a signature, or at the end of a post. That's all.

Put a little "face" behind the SN occasionally.....

Hi! We are Jona and Jason Blocker and we love dart frogs Smile

We purchased our first frogs about a year ago, immediately became enthralled with the frogs, and thus began the frog collecting! We both have a background in the natural sciences that comes from formal education and life experience.

We both are "work at home folks" and spend time every day in the frog room. We live in Northern Virginia, and would like to meet other local frog people.

Current species we are working with: various Tincs, Leucs, various Auratus, orange and mint terriblis, orange and green lamasi, amazonicus, imis (nominat and locale specific), intermedius, veradero, fants, and an assortment of Pumilio (el dorado, solarte, man creek, colon, gauramo, and bastis)

Very nice guys.

"Kooistra"....an uncommon surname, I would think. What nationality, if I may ask ?

Jona and Jason, Welcome ! I look forward to seeing one or both of you at a frog meet / gathering on the East Coast soon. My rack systems look very similar - only black and 48", but same height....

Good stuff.

Kooistra's Dutch, West Michigan is full of us Hollanders.
Snapped this of my setup the other day, i've since added a 24 x 24 exo to the bottom right, and have an 18 x 24 exo to go next to it. I have a couple more in process to round out the shelves and some rearranging to do. When all the tanks are done im going to add a mistking to it. I plan to have the pump etc.. down in the basement and pump it up to the tanks.
Ive had some custom lids made to replace the exo lids, made out of Lexan. Still a work in process, but im getting there. The kids like to make pics of the frogs etc... and hang them from the racks.
ive got lamasis, variabillis, vents, intermedius, leucs, tinks (new rivers), arautus(highland bronze), darklands, mancreek and 24 x 24 on the left has mossies in it. When all is said and done, ill give a more "proper" tour of each viv. The dyson you see in the foreground is my fruitfly control system. Smile

I'm in Raleigh NC with a boring desk job. By 3 pm I am thinking of nothing but getting home and checking on my frogs. I've tried to get my co-workers interested but they mostly just humor me and then talk about me behind my back. Big Grin
Do you know where your frogs have been?

Dallas, TX originally from Portland, OR.

Wife and I have been in Texas for about 5 years while she is in school. It's a lot cheaper to go to school in TX than it is in OR. Eventually we'll work our way back to Oregon. But for now we are enjoying the sun.

I'm in Internet Marketing. Run my own business. As long as there is an Internet connection somewhere I can work.

Poison Beauties , Michael Lawrence, As*#ole, Demon of the boards and so on....

Married almost ten yrs, 30 yrs old, 4 kids, Roxy, Chaos, Pixie and Trixie

Ive been a part of the herp hobby literally all my live and began personally breeding herps by my self at 13 starting with Albino Burmese pythons then traded off the babies in order to move into Albino Boas from Peter Kahl in 1996 then everything I could get ahold of. Ive bred Pythns, Boas, Colubrids, Chams, Geckos, Monitors, Amphibians, and Venomous Snakes and Arachnids.
Spent everything I made on expanding my hobby experience and collection then got married and spent the money I made fighting on the house and everything else we needed.
Now Im an avid organic farmer/ plant hobbyists and frogger. Had to let the snakes and monitors go when the kids took over. I now have began putting together my own public business but in my free time I built custom hydroponics systems for private plant hobbyists and smaller nurseries.

Raleigh always seemed like a cool little "mini-city", my mom lives in FL and I used to constantly drive back and forth non-stop from NY, but Raleigh always looked like a place that was kinda "in between", like not big city and not out in the sticks, like I said I never stopped anywhere though.
