Good old US Postal Service.
I bound the parts together to make one bundle. Wrapped that up in bubble wrap. Covered that entirely with packing tape. Wrapped that in paper and stuffed that into shipping tube. Finally added a sweet fin to prevent it from rolling.

Haha Chris it looks good to me! Didn't realize how good the camera on the new iPhone was Wink.

This was packed great. The vents and rails were wrapped in paper and masking tape. That two to three inch bundle was then wrapped in bubble wrap and packing tape. That bundle was then packed in a 5" reinforced cylinder and shipped via USPS standard post. There was a shot of the carton above but here is another view from the top to better show the cardboard reinforced tube:

Looks like Chris beat me to it lol

Got the vents in last night. I'll see how dry the silicone is tonight and start fitting the track. I still have to find a source for 1/8" glass locally - I only have 1/4" and 3/32"...so I'll get on that after the track is in and I have final measurements.

Wow Jim all your vivs and frogs are so beautiful! I LOVE the continuous scene you may have started something there Wink I would love to have a set-up like yours someday, but I think I'm good with starting with on viv for now lol Although I would like to breed whatever pair I get Smile I've always thought breeding was so much fun and rewarding! This may sound like dumb question, but what are all the number you use to describe your frogs? Is there an article or thread I can read to help explain? I'm guessing it has something to do with genetics? This thread is such an inspiration thanks for posting all the pictures and updates. It seems like you have some very interesting research going on with genetics right now that's always a fun project! Good luck!

Thanks! I started with "just one" viv and look where it got me Wink. I got out of fish and [more] into frogs Smile. The numbers tell you what the sex of the animal groups are:
http://www.dartden.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... ers#p31225

The codes I am developing also describe the lineage (SS = Sean Stewart, UE = Understory Enterprises, both breeders). I'm using those codes to track specific groupings of animals.

The bank of six 12-12-18 vivs were for grow outs that let me segregate animals by lineage. I've been keeping Lorenzo for a while and I'm working to reinvigorate the locale within the hobby so I needed a way to keep offspring from my different pairs separated during grow out. I like viewing my frogs so I went all in with my grow out setup Smile

If you are interested in breeding I would consider sourcing animals from different, reputable breeders or hobbyists. That way you can grow out and pair different animals. Also give some consideration to where you are going to sell your froglets before pulling tads - you can easily out breed demand with tincs.

Looks like I have a lot to learn before I'm ready to take on breeding at a good sized scale. I believe I may have a vendor that is a local reptile/aquatic shop. They haven't had darts before, but the keep things such as red eye tree frogs etc. They buy fish from me on a regular basis and I'm planning on talking to them about the darts once I have a more established viv. I definitely want to make sure I'm breeding high quality frogs. I don't believe in passing on weak genes. I'm not sure how prevalent they are in the dart world, but I know when I was breeding angels and other types of fish there were tons of strains you had to be weary of because of disease and deformities.

One thing that I find confusing about darts though are all the different strains it will take me awhile to get a general idea of what people are talking about without having to resort to google lol

Finally finished up the 29 horizontal conversion with Sherman's custom kit (thanks again Chris!). I had the doors cut at the local glass shop last week. I finally got around to making the silicone strip between the doors for the final bit of fly proofing. Casper showed me this neat trick for making a clean bead of silicone - he used an old credit card, but I opted for a deli cup lid cut in half. Basically you make a form with a triangular cut that will shape the silicone:
Then you run that along the edge of the door and it will make an even bead of silicone. The trick is keeping your angle steady and getting the triangle cut right to leave the right depth of silicone behind:

That was it. After drying I installed the doors. Here's the tank in its final location - in a cabinet under the display tanks. This will be my main Robertus grow out.

I can't thank Chris enough for hooking me up with this kit. It made for the perfect grow out for my Robertus and freed up my smaller grow outs for sorting my Lorenzo's.

I was cutting back on the light intensity on most of my vivs, moving back to 2 x 13 watt JDs. As part of that reduction I took the existing G&Gs and put them on my grow out vivs. After a few months I noticed the pilea and begonias I previously had under the G&Gs were starting to deteriorate. I ordered more and they are bouncing back now. At first I didn't like the G&G spectrum as much but it has grown on me and I prefer vivs lit with those bulbs now. Here are shots of the G&G and JD side by side from below through frosted glass.

I believe also offered by light your reptiles.

Dan beat me to it Smile. Here's what I was writing up:

Grow and Glow. That is the long bulb on the left that adds red and blue diodes. Todd designed those to improve plant growth. It seems that my vivs dominated by pilea did better with them, while my vivs with salaginella didn't really show any difference. The G&Gs throw a bluer light than the regular JDs and initially I didn't like them as much but now I actually prefer them.

Quote:Introducing the new Grow and Glow LED light bars from LightYourReptiles.com These Screw in LEDS currently come in 2 Sizes. The 14" 15 watt Model and the 17" 20 watt Model. They are like a cross between a Jungle Dawn® Screw In and and LED bar! They are self contained and do not need a transformer! The LED Drivers are built right inside! The "Grow" part of these new Jungle Dawns® is all about the mixed diodes --They have separate BLUE and RED diodes to enhance color and photosynthesis in plants. The "Glow" part is about the lights spectrum and ability to make colors seem to "POP". And the light they give off mixes wonderfully with the spectrum from the Original Jungle Dawn® LED bulbs. So they can be even used in conjunction with them for fantastic lighting effects. These come with a one year guarantee on materials and workmanship. Some things to keep in mind when using them is that they are longer than practically any other screw in out there! So using them in hoods is something that needs to be considered.

Apologies! Ranitomeya lamasi 'Standard' and they go by "Highland lamasi" as well. Another hobby frog that is relatively uncommon and requires long term attention that I have been thinking about taking them on for a while.

Got this neat little D. parvula epiphytic fern from Zach (goods) that I put into one of my vivs mounted in the nooks of a big cork round. It's a really cool little plant that feels waxy to the touch with rigid fronds. It's a slow grower, but it's got a really cool look. Here are some shots of how it's mounted and some close ups of the new growth.

My bold proven female NAIB True Sip - she's one of my favorite frogs. The flash washes out the yellow crest a bit but it really stands out:

And Lorenzos! Here's a female that shows the typical darker coloration (Stewart :: Schwinn - UE):

And she has a bit of attitude:

Her male (Stewart :: Schwinn - UE, my last sibling pair, 2015C) is really beautiful - you can see more blue on him compared to her:

And his crest is more pronounced (typical for Lorenzo males):
