Strictly knows this, and this is why you are not seeing the same prices as 2007. In 07 a ton of price lists had pumilio, that just is not the case now. But like the stock market they go up and down depending on quantities being moved.

Correct. Two things recently happened to "the worlde of pumilio as we know it"

1. The economy tanked and that reverberated into the exotic animal world where import prices rose slightly.

2. Strictly suddenly "found out" that these silly little coloured frogs are a leetle more valuable than they originally thought a few years ago. Used to be where frogs were all 'back of the bus" to EVERY other kind of herp, money-wise.

so...things have changed a bit.
Anybody with a computer and the skills to type in something close to 'pumilio for sale' will fast find the value of pums. It's their jobs to know. And it's easy.
Prices with pums, just as EVERYTHING else, tend to go up a bit at some point.
What was the point again?
Oh , yes, that's a current and correct price list. We do not know exactly how many frogs are needed to get those exact prices. Done.
I answered the question before Rich, don't expect to get these prices from the importer. Those numbers are deceiving for the regular forum reader who has never ordered.
The prices are correct and current Jason. Period.
Add on ( itemize and price out, oh, I forgot , you are not listing prices, just telling me I'm wrong...) whatever extras or...'I'm buying 10 and am charged as such vs. buying 1000 and getting a great price' thunderstruck obvious price adjustments you like .
I am far from one to be accused of deception. And I don't appreciate the sentiment. But I'm a big boy. People trust my posts.
I will say one thing, dealing with the hassles and headaches of importing and then the stress of moving the imported frogs afterward is rarely worth the effort....unless that is your business. One can easily assume why SNDF does not take the 200 - 300 frog risk anymore tying up all that $$, it is far easier to drive 3 miles down the street and pick out 50 or so new imports, or if lucky all 150 of something new.
Importing is a PIA but as Rich said $ and time and it is doable.
I thought I would also mention that Jason is also correct in that there are additional costs, depending on the circumstances and i have not done it for a long time but any where from $200 to maybe $500 total....so if you imported 500 frogs it would only be $1 per frog and outside of brokerage and a few other fees there may be a couple I don't remember or are new but still obviously if this is deferred over a few hundred frogs it amounts to a dollar or $2. Now you can ask the question...how many frogs can I fit in my 20 gallon tank, a hundred?
^ If you are willing to contribute Mark, there is a good place to, shipping-issues-importing-traveling-with-frogs-f61/direct-importation-of-amphibians-into-the-usa-t5926.html

that isnt lost on page 10...of the rantings
How about contributing here Shawn? You were largely involved in this last shipment.
Sorry for the rants. Got your attention though...
I thought I was contributing, my advice let someone else do it, pay the mark up and sit back and enjoy your frogs.
I think Shawn just meant to post on the New thread - better, more concise location too.
Thanks Phil, my bad.
^ yes, all I meant....thx Phil.

And no Rich I wasn't 'largely involved', no more then you were. I just followed through to the end is all. I wasnt entirely happy with the results, U know that...but I am not sure it would have happened at all if we hadnt agreed with the importer to handle a specific # of animals. .....He is still left holding 300 unclaimed animals BTW...did anyone know that??? before they go investing in Importing for Dummies?

And no, as you stated once prior...somewhere lost in this 9 pg thread, I don't have a 'partner' in this....no more then U did.

Truth is. New animals came into FLA legally, like they do from time to time. People including Ray Jr tried to arrange specific morphs so the same old same old didnt flood the US again.

A group of good breeders banded together to buy a stock amount at a discount. It is fair to say 15K was invested by this small group BTW. U got that handy?? to chip in next time??

Instead of this dieing pages and pages ago it continues because of completely separate circumstances.
1. U are owed from a completely separate interaction/ trade, U willingly entered into with someone else...who happens to be 'connected' with these pumilio. And your pissed. Rightfully so.
2. Cheap pumilio cut into profits from expensive CB animals.

Fair enough?

Got your attn?
Wow, too much BS to address today. Wow.
As stated in your 'boo hoo for the importers' thread I'll make a point to address the issues Shawn. very glad you showed again.
Boys...the antagonism has to stop. We have a chance for excellent new info here on how processes and procedures work.

Some of us have live and families and cant play online all day Rich. Sorry I cant be here all the time for you? And why exactly are you glad I showed up? cause it looks like it is simply so you can have someone new to piss on??

Now.....a "Boohoo" ??? huh?? I was initiating an informed discussion on the process, factual from those that have done this, was the hope. Nothing to contribute I guess? U enjoy bashing me because I started a thread on DD, your playground?

U are making enemies out of everyone Rich, and I not sure why? How was it I stepped on your little toes ???

I tried to outline the import process for other members, on a separate thread so as not to hijack your work of art here...sorry if I was following the rules.

....and then you brought your bullying there too. That thread was stamped all over it by the owner of this forum that U are abusing, "Dont hijack this", yet you did it anyway. :?

My comments of my post above were directly related to this thread about the recent pumilio imports, which you started as a reaction to your dissatisfaction with another frogger but anyways, I was at least contributing the facts.

Can U outline for me, how we obtain site specific pumilio ?? such at Robalo, Cristobal, CR Blue Jeans, Cayo de Aqua, Uyama River and all the rest of the lovely pumilio in your collection? So that we may all do the same. Granulifera as well, those Baru and Quepo and Golfito and Oso. How do we get them from your sources, so that we may no longer have to rely on direct importing from Panama?? or dealing with Frog flippers etc. Really, we want a better way. Who doesnt. Give us the secret.

I would like to know, so that we no longer have to have this non-site specific argument in the hobby every time you bring it up. Can U answer that question? Since U like telling me you love giving answers?

Shawn
I personally think ANYONE who is actually importing these animals has every right to charge fair market price. If they control the market, charge as much a you can. They take the risk, the time, and get the good with the bad.

Strangely, not anyone can successfully mport. It takes userstanding a huge amount of laws....otherwise, guess what happens when those frogs come packed incorrectly? You get fines and you get your shipment taken away. Should I bring up the Lacey Act? No fool should be doing it themselves.

As you say Shawn , and as I have mentioned today, I have a life, and I will answer all your questions tomorrow. Be ready to reciprocate.
Im just curious. If all of these pumilio are so easily acquired, then why isnt buena esperanza on the "list?"

Sure it is very easy to import pumilio. As long as you have the money and resources to import, then treat, and then quarantine the 500 pumilio minimum (that they usually require) as well as the 300 auratus they are going to MAKE you take then by all means go for it. Just because someone in Panama quotes you a specific price per pumilio, that does not mean in the slightest way shape or form you will have them in hand for that price. Well sure if you dont count in all the bs tack on fees, and import fees, and extra "fees" the exporter and importer will want for their time, plus all the qt tubs (dont forget youre going to need 800 of them), meds, time and effort to deal with the goat rope they tend to put us froggers through etc.

Did I say it was easy? Man just thinking about how easy it is is making my head hurt. If it was that easy we would all have every pumilio that was ever on our "lists"

I am still curious however why Sergio didnt put Esperanza on the list?

Sorry didn't catch the name...
I'll throw your points into tomorrow's posts.
Quarantine, that's funny.
Will Wohlers sorry I forgot to add it. Yeah I understand qt is funny, but if you are talking about doing things right then it does need to be put in there. But yeah I would say most importers dont qt, they just throw them all together. In the grand scheme of things though qt tubs are just a drop in the bucket.
