I am not sure how others feel about this, but I think it should be addressed.

I have a very hard time getting into a serious Dart discussion when I have absolutely no idea of whom I am directing my attention. I can understand the wish for some privacy , but I can see no reason why a member would not (at the very least) sign a post with his/her first name.

Introductions are helpful at times ( although I do not think intros should be a mandatory thing). I just can not see myself (or others) putting a ton of energy into a post that starts like this: Dear skaTeDudepuNk341*.
Anyone?

Alright rich, my name is Ed Parker, I am 21, living in utah. I am a student at Weber State University working on my bachelor of zoology. I have already received my a.a.s. degree of automotive technology. I keep Darts, mantellas, show guppies, chameleons, monitors, and am caring for some geckos and a waxy monkey for a friend. I am a 3.95 to 4.0 student and have received various scholarships for my grades. I like long walks on the beach, and have a wonderful girlfriend that I will soon get married to. Any more questions? hehe, I think that is enough detail.

I guess I haven't introduced myself. I'm 29 years old and am married and have 2 children. I graduated form dental school last year and moved from Houston to Los Angeles where I've been doing a year of residency. I'll finish my residency here at UCLA in June, and then I'll be headed back to Texas for another three years of training in endodontics. I guess I'm kind of one of those eternal students, but I really am going to be done after this! I've been into herps pretty much my whole life, but when I saw dart frogs for the first time, I thought it was hands down the coolest thing I had ever seen. I was hooked. I've had them on and off for the past 8 years. Right now I just have some vents. I really want to concentrate on just one or two species, but I'm having a really hard time deciding which ones! Anyway, that's my story, in a nutshell.

Well I am 28 years old and am in my second year of residency in Emergency Medicine in Syracuse. I went to med school in Texas and plan on moving back in about a year and a half. I am new to darts, I have been keeping tree frogs for about 6 years. I am married and have two kids.

Other than the obvious interest in Darts, I have been racing sailboats (usually one-design J105s ) for about ten years , out of Chicago mainly. I love salt water tanks, fly fishing and my old BMW motorcycle.
Walks on the beach are also nice , but in this weather the chance of stubbing my toe (rose in liquid nitrogen) on a frozen sand dune is a risk I can not afford.

I'm a 17 year old male,Most of my Friends refer to me as Moe or Moses(middle name) I live in New York. I have been keeping Darts for almost 3 years now, hopefully this summer i will be attending ESF for Forest Biology, i enjoy working on classic cars, the one i have now is a 71 Buick Le sabre, which i am refurnishing. I also enjoy walks through the woods, or on the beach (although in mot sure about that, never been to one) I keep darts, mantellas, scorpions, spiders, i used to keep salamanders, geckos, and mud puppies. I have just started on a saltwater tank which i am enjoying a lot. Before i can enlarge my collection i need more room, so i have to finish laying down the hardwood floor in the room i will be using, so i better go work on that lol.
p.s. My goal to is become a herpetologist, and open a breeding program for the species of darts which are becoming scarce in their wild habitat, along with breeding other types of exotic animals.

I play guitar, football, soccer, love to swim, read, and write. I have an amazing girlfriend that will ask to marry once I get a ring, and like many others, i like long walks on the beach, especially at night. There's a little bit about me.

Anything else you want to know, just ask.

Hello all.
My name is Eric. I work for Johns Hopkins university in Baltimore.
I do Biosafety, I test and maintain HEPA filtered Biological containment equipment. I'm 30, single and love biking, fishing, snowbaording, fishing, hiking, and fishing. I just got into PDFs recently, but I've been keeping critters like mantellas, snakes, bearded dragons, water dragons, salamanders and fish for years. I 'm excited about my new viv since i took a 3 year hiatus from the critters while i got my living situation nailed down.
It's kinda nice to hear about everyone. much better to put a personality to a screen name.
Did mention i enjoy fishin?
Peace.

Hi everyone,

I enjoyed reading all the posts here so i decided to add one.

My name is Lauren and i just graduated from college a few months ago. i am currently working as a designer (Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Photography), but i am also an artist of jewelry, bonsai, and photography. i enjoy gardening and the outdoors in general.

i have been keeping reptiles and amphibians for over ten years and i am thrilled to finally have the time and funds to devote to these amazing creatures once more. i never thought i would be into dart frogs, but i guess once introduced to them, you cant resist. i remember being fascinated by the dart frog exhibit at the old Opryland zoo area when i was a kid. it was sooo neat to see an animal so rare and dangerous. little did i know at the time that these little frogs were not a threat in captivity::lol::

ok, well i have drawn this out long enough. i really like the community at this board and hope it continues to grow. ~Lauren

Hi Everyone!

I have been reading the forum for about a month now, and this thread is the perfect opportunity for me to introduce myself. My name is Rob and I live in Seattle, WA. I work as a Microbiology Project Manager focusing on drug research for a large pharmaceutical company.

I have been keeping frogs/reptiles since I was a kid. My passion sparked with a W.C. tree frog (Hyla regilla) when I was very young. I collected a nice female that liked to call all night and one day she actually laid eggs for me, and so the hobby begins...

I have been interested in PDF's for about 10 years, but because of other commitments and time, I have kept only a few species. I am in the process of setting up some vert tanks and searching for the next frogs on my wish list (D. imitator, D. i. intermedius, D. fantasticus, D. reticulatus, D. ventrimaculatus). As you see I love those thumbs right now and I have been talking with some of my local breeders to slowly acquiring new frogs.

I have been reading and learning a lot in the past couple years and met some outstanding people. I am looking to this site to gain more knowledge and understanding about this exciting and rewarding hobby!
Rob

E. anthonyi, D. imitator, C. azureiventris, D. amazonicus, D. lamasi (pan & pan gl), P. aurotaenia, D. variabilis, D. quinquevittatus, D. reticulatus, D. matecho, D. pumilio cauchero & escudos

My name is Greg. I live in New Jersey and attend Rutgers University. I am an accounting and finance major and I plan on getting the CPA license. My other interests have kind of dwindled. I was really into cars, but am now deciding to let go of my Mustang (not stock) and try and get some of my money back so I can get married and...uh...buy some more frogs. So, yes I have a girlfriend and we are planning on getting married summer of 2006. I also play paintball, but do to its expense, I have not played in a while (I would rather have darts). I got into the dart hobby in October and am currently working with blue auratus and castaneoticus. I also have some azureus and brunos that I am picking up at IAD. Almost spent my IAD funds already and I haven't even gotten there yet.

Hi everyone.

My name is Allen and I've worked off and on in the pet trade for a number of years, including managing the aquatics department of a local pet store, but for the past couple years I've been working in the financial field (BORING!). I've enjoyed keeping all manner of "critters" ever since I was a kid. Currently I'm only keeping tarantulas, (19 spcecies) but I'm planning to thin out my collection and start a vivarium with the hopes of eventually introducing some poison frogs. I've previously kept a 60 gallon vivarium with anoles, fire bellied toads, fire bellied newts, and a vine snake, but it had fake plants. This time I intend to go all out and have a true living environment. I'm very much looking forward to the challenge and am at the moment seeking the least costly sources for the things I'll need to start the project.

As I'll soon be moving to northern California I'll be starting out with a small one that can easily be moved, most likely an 18 gallon tall tank, and then hopefully assembling a larger one later once I'm settled in. I'd appriciate any advice anyone has to offer.

I'll rise to the challenge. My real name is Rob Halgren, in mid-michigan. I'm mostly in the research phase of frog raising, looking for a good chance to jump in.

I'm a biologist and assistant professor at Michigan State, but my real hobby is orchids. All kinds. Ask me sometime. Good for terrariums. I just started selling orchids to pay for the greenhouse (or at least subsidize at a very low level), you can contribute at littlefrogfarm.com *grin*

The business name 'littlefrog farm' comes from my daughter. The night she was born I found a little frog (probably an eastern grey) on my kitchen counter. Never had one before or since. So, that is comfortable omen, and I was looking for a name for the greenhouse anyway... sooo...

Thanks... All it lacks is frogs... Actively seeking recommendations for greenhouse frogs. I'm not convinced darts would do well, or if they did, I don't know how I would find them!
